Something encouraging for Rosebowl's bones last night...

he was speaking of Carmon and Cam Newton and he said "ONCE James Carmon and Cam Newton commit, then..." Whatever he said next is unimportant. Just thought it was encouraging that he said "once", as if it was a forgone conclusion that both were coming.

He'd also been claiming for weeks that some "mystery recruit" who was committed to another school would end up signing with State. Well, last night he admitted that mystery recruit was Demarco Cox, who signed his LOI with UM yesterday (basketball). I enjoy the bones as much as anybody, but don't think that he doesn't write them with maroon colored glasses on.

But you're right, the fact he actually signed with UM in basketball makes that pretty unlikely. It's one thing to commit somewhere then change your mind, that happens all the time. But to actually sign and then change your mind would be a pretty ****** thing to do.

Are you sure about that? It was always my understanding that a LOI was an LOI, regardless of the sport and that a signee would need a release if he decided to go elsewhere after signing an LOI. Not sure either way, that's just what I always thought.

but I have heard rumor that Cameron Newton is a done deal. He has already committed to Mullen. He is coming for the Egg Bowl, and I have heard that he will publicly announce his commitment that weekend. Rumor is that Mullen, Newton, and Newton's father discussed that in order to make a major impact. His committment would blow the top off of a great Egg Bowl winning weekend, or it would steal some of the Rebel's thunder should we lose the Egg Bowl. My source is decently connected, but he ain't perfect (i.e. he's not Brad Krayer).

He would have to go to Juco one year or sit out 2 years because I highly doubt UM will give him a release. I don't see either option happening.

I stopped believing anything he says years ago. I have to see it happen before I believe anything Rosebowl puts out.

I never bought the D. Cox stuff - the guy clearly has no interest in playing football unless for some reason he's sure basketball isn't going to work out long-term for him.
