I agree. LaTech is the clear #2 program in the state right now (with Tulane being such a mess). They should be able to have some good teams and maybe have a team that has a year where they push for a superb season from time to time (11-1 type, maybe undefeated late into the season).

"Last year we played Mississippi State, and I swear to you there was no difference in our players and theirs. I was shocked. There was no difference. They might've had a little more depth, but across the board our players were about as good as theirs."

That means the game came down to one thing: Coaching.

And MSU won because they had the superior coach.

At least your big hillbilly mouth will admit that much.

quick passes to the flats are our achilles heel especially with how far off our corners play in our defensive scheme. But he may need to take into account we just rolled off Auburn and LSU where we got physically beat up pretty bad. I think if Russell would have played the game would not have been so close. Relf was pretty bad except the one final TD pass. Actually he was terrible.

made their defensive front look like the old Steel Curtain in that game. It was pathetic. All I could figure was maybe our Offensive Linemen had a REALLY good time the night before.

MSU coach Dan Mullen‘s response? Well, here’s what he told me over the phone today:

“I guess if the players are
equal we must have better coaches here at Mississippi State since we
won,” Mullen said in jest. “But they are a very good football team.
Sonny does a great job with their program.”

I think Carmon and Tobias Smith we're out. Didn't we do the weird shuffle putting Day at Center etc...

Maybe in the long run getting those young guys playing will pay off this year but our OL last year seemed to be a different lineup every game.

Why did he buy out of the game this year he had scheduled with us? He had a perfect opportunity to prove his point, yet backed out. That's what I would have said if I was Mullen

They caught us at perhaps our weakest point and we damn near let them steal it. That would not happen this year and not last if we'd been healthy.

By that logic, we were as good as LSU in 2009 and as good as Arkansas in 2010. Both played in BCS bowls the following years. So we should play in one this year, and La. Tech will get into the Sugar. Dykes has it all figured out.

I hope this doesn't continue though. I'd hate to be a student/fan of the school in a verbal playground fight with La. Tech.

can't remember but I thought Carmon got back for that game but obviously still nowhere near 100%. We had a 9 day break before that game but obviously whatever our OL strategy was with what we had available didn't work.
