Since I had a wedding to go to this afternoon, I decided to buck my superstitious nature and Tivo the game. I made it to the half-hour long second inning, and watched us plunk in a run. At that point it became quite obvious I had angered the sports gods, finished out the inning, and deleted it. The game joins my MSU Tivo hall of infamy with the 2011 Auburn, South Carolina and Alabama football games, and the 2006 (?) West Virginia NIT game. The Michigan Gator Bowl somehow escaped this jinx, so I foolishly thought it was over, or maybe the curse didn't involve baseball (you know, because FREAKING BASEBALL isn't chock full of ridiculous superstitions and more unwritten rules than a Japanese tea ceremony). I was wrong. Really, really wrong. So: I've learned my lesson and promise to not even consider recording any of our games in the Bloomington regional, or any sporting event ever again.
