Whomever the flavor of the year is will be his choice. Crean, Pelphrey, Shaka, Trent Johnson, Brady, Gottfried,Pearl, just whomever he can convince himself will be better. Has no idea how they can do over a long period of time, but heck, he gets to continue his obsession with Stansbury.

All that matters is whether or not a coach has ONE Sweet Sixteen. That's how you separate the good coaches from the bad ones.

I'm not a huge fan of hiring the "flavor of the month," but how can you not be impressed with him. This is his second year to coach. He went 27-10 his first year and won the CIT (I know it sucks) and this year he has taken them to the Final Four. He is very intellectual and has a swagger about him.

I would be elated if he wanted to come coach MSU. Watch his pregame or postgame speeches/interviews and tell me he isn't impressive.

However, he ain't coming to State. He and Stevens can name their jobs at this point.

big difference in the sweet 16 and the final 4. Not to mention the 96 final 4 appearance got a lot of votes for the "greatest moment in MSU history". So... I reckon I'd take a final 4 over a handful of first round exits.

Seems like I remember a season where you ended every post with "Stans is coaching for his job next year." Then we made the tournament (2009 I guess) and it completely killed your point for that season.<div>
</div><div>Nice to see you're bringing back an old favorite that you can post every day for the next 12 months though. Sounds fun.</div>

and for the record, Heath made the NCAA Tourneyhis last two seasons at UPig- and was still fired- not the best of example to use to help your argument

Obviously you can't get that into that peanut brain of yours. Arkansas has much better facilities and a history of winning. Morons like you act like MSU is the dream school of all these recruits . I would love to see how well all these flavors of the month could recruit to MSU and not go on probation. Your boy Pearl couldn't even do that at UT. One thing we can count on however, you will have a negative post on here every day you breath about MSU basketball or our coach and the funniest part is your ego makes you think someone would actually listen to your thoughts on picking any coach. God forbid Stricklin is that stupid .

since the luster went off of them after those firstfew SEC years- they have struggled

We are 44th in the natio in basketball revenue
The Recruiter made 1.5 million after bonuses in 2010- thats in the top 50 in the nation

Quit acting like this is a **** job- the 1970's and early 1980's are over- we can hire a good coach, we've done pretty damn well with the last 2 hires havent we?

But neither have won an SEC title and you are wanting to run off a coach who has done just that.

and we get to the Sweet 16 or better. However, I doubt that will happen. We will have a good shot at the NCAAT if there's no major crap in the summer. If Stans wins 20+ games and we go to the NIT, I say, he doesn't lose his job.

Are you going to run them off too? I guess we'll have to wait to see but until one of them wins the SEC, we have one on campus who has done it and yet, your Junior High mentality wants to run him off. You must be one angry sick person who sits around and hopes we lose. I feel sorry for you.

Well we are getting our new practice facility shortly, which will be a Big plus, (just ask Ben Hansbrough.) I don't think recruiting is that hard at MSU in basketball, all you have to do is to get the talent from MS to go to STATE and pickup a few players from AL and TN. Stans has been doing a pretty good job of that and it would be easy to follow his model and to "work" with those AAU coaches. <span style="font-weight: bold;">The problem for Stans has been keeping the talent he recruits in S-Vegas, and that has nothing to do with the school, but is all about our lack of coaching and the non-development of players from Stans and his "staff".</span>

I do agree with Fish that kids can be recruited to MSU, Stans has proven it and it is only fair to give him those facilities and then see.I do disagree about players leaving, to my knowledge the only player that ever left that our staff wanted to stay was Hansborough. The rest left because of egos and attitudes. I also disagree that players haven't developed under our staff. Timmy Bowers improved 100% and just by looking at Wendell Lewis anybody can see he got better as the year went on.The point remains, be careful what you wish for, you might actually get it and then making the NCAA tourney half the time and winning the SEC will look pretty good if we go back to mediocrity. I will agree that this is a vital year to get back in the dance and I have every reason to believe we will. I do know this though, coach and his enterouge will be sick because they cannot stand the fact that they are wrong on something. And by the way, Rod Barnes made the sweet sixteen, was replaced, and the Bears haven't made the dance since. Must be harder to recruit in this state than some of you think.
