is 100% 12 games with the top 4 receiving a bye. 8/9 game will play #1, 12/5 game will face #4, 10/7 will face #2, and 11/6 will face #3. Hope this helps! Have a good one!

This is correct. I got confirmation last night. Not agreeing with it, but it is what it is. It does save ifs that were 2-8 from playing top teams that is not likely they will win. Don't jeopardize a kids health. But many teams don't do well with Bye weeks.

I agree EHSMDC1. I've seen many posters say that it is an unfair advantage to the teams that have a bye over teams that have to play an extra game against a bottom team.

I could just as easily argue that having the bye (especially in high school) will have more negative effects on a team than positive. A bye means nothing (no specific team) to focus on and a loss of momentum and sharpness of playing skills (edge). The only time it would be good is if you have a injury or two to top players. Then again, just play the 2nd stringer to give him some reps.

A good coach will keep his team sharp and crisp during a bye week. It is an unfair advantage to get a bye, it should be same for everyone in all divisions. VHSL dropped the ball on this one. That's just my opinion.

I completely understand that argument. I wasn't defending having a bye (it should the same for both sides in all divisions). I don't like byes for the reasons I mentioned above.

However, I am just guessing here, but the higher seeds did not ask for a bye. It probably came from teams that do not want to travel to most likely lose big and risk injury.

VHSL allows for the different regions to make these decisions on a case by case basis (I think).
