And yet thats not the issue...one thing we've also seen on tgis Board in years past is goldfish mentality. Crying and moaning, which is all forgotten at the end of the year (usually) then it restarts over each year. And not going undefeated abmnd winning every game by 30 is voicing "concerns", they aren't concerns tho...its entitlement mentality.
Granted, there, yes, of course was some things to be concerned about at the start of the year, bit in typical rafters fashion, everything has to be one extreme or the other. We beat Purdue in an exhibition, we're going undefeated, we lose some games bc we arent looking that well early in the year, well we're going to the NIT, pope had to resign or he needs to be fired midseason. See the stupidity there
Well, missing the tournament was starting to become a real possiblity if we lost to IU and SJs. We're 8-4. That still means we've lost 30% of our games. It's not a great start. It's fixable though.
However, if Lowe gets hurt again......that's still not out of the realm......
Nothing is certain at this point. We might be great from here on out. We might still struggle. I'm less worried than I was two weeks ago, but let be real we were avg close to a 20pt deficit in our losses at one point.
Entitlement mentality? Come on man. This is KENTUCKY. No one bitches about Bama football fans expecting to win titles and compete for them. There's a reason they have the most championship in football. And their fans are a part of that. Same goes for us in basketball.
Sure, complaining about not winning by 30 every game is insane. I haven't seen much of that. Complaining we're getting our heads bashed in while Pope looked like he was staring off into the sunset was a bit valid. Still complaining about his wacked out lineups is STILL valid.
There's still things to be concerned about. Hopefully most of them are now manageble. Maybe this is it. Maybe we've tossed off the millstone. I sure hope so- because I'm tired of seeing our program STRUGGLE. We haven't had ANY hardware since 2018. EIGHT LONG YEARS AGO.
We haven't made the SECT Championship game since 2022. It will be four years in March. We're in the second longest SECT title drought in our history. We haven't won the regular conference title since 2020- and only ONCE since 2017.
And yes, that matters.
