SOS will, in large measure, be used as a primary factor in lebby getting year 3. In an odd way, I suspect lebby is just fine with the situation. Just has to look more competitive in the inevitable losses.

Unfortunately, an 0 - 8 SEC record this year would put State on a 20 game conference losing streak. Add four games in to 2026 and it's a new record. We are the traditional Vandy bad right now.

I just don't know how tough it really is with transfer portal. It's going to tough but you never know anymore with transfer portal. Missouri went from a two win season to a 11 win season. Vany went from nothing season to beating Bama. Teams can miss in the portal as well. I suspect GA and Texas will be our two toughest games. I don't feel Arizona State will be a good with out that running back. I am not pumping sunshine, it's just hare to know how good one team is going to be from one season to the next with that portal.

I'm afraid the SOS is going to be a convenient excuse this year. But looking at the schedule there are 8 teams on there (USM, AZ St, Alcorn, N IL, A&M, AR, Mizzou, and OM that in any given year we should be very competitive with and or beat. TN and FL could arguably be on that list too.
The sympathizers will whine about the SOS but the real truth is closer to the middle and we just don't have the talent or staff to do it with at this point. In other words its not as much strength of schedule as it is weakness of program.

It's pretty easy to look at a Texas or Ole Miss schedule and realize we are getting screwed. This is the second year in a row in the current format. Got screwed both years.

Previous to that, there wasn't much excuse to be made because it was a defined rotation and basically everyone got the same deal. And before that, we had to play everyone in our division which meant LSU, Bama, Auburn every year and we had UK as permanent, so not much to complain about really.

The last two, however, have felt to me like a purposeful attempt by the league to give the teams who they think have a shot at the playoffs a definite advantage in scheduling. Unfortunate timing (as always) for us, coming off the Arnett season as the low team on the totem pole that they don't give a shitt about.

17 Birmingham.

If we can’t win 1 from Mizzou, Ark, A&M, Tenn, Florida or Mississippi the strength of schedule doesn’t matter. I mean yeah we might have picked up a couple of wins if we had Kentucky & Vandy on the schedule but we’d still suck.

They probably go with 9 conference games next year and we never get the B side to our 24' 25' schedule.

Let's say Lebby loses every SEC game but wins all the non-conference games. Does he get a third year?

Anyone that says YES, he gets a 3rd year, is also saying they are OK with a cumulative 2 year record of 6-18 with wins against only UMASS, E KY, USM, AZ St, Alcorn, and N IL.

If we were expected to be just a little better, Northern Illinois wouldn't be dead last (easiest in the country).

I'm sure Vandy has been sighting their SOS for years now. You either accept it and play your heart out or use it as an excuse. If you want to be a man then you play other men and claim your title.

We are going to be a team on consequence in when it comes playoff time! The team that beats us the the worst is IN!

If a team beats us by less than 18, they're out!

We serve a purpose!
