Sounds like Ryan Franklin's days as a closer are numbered

Sounds like they are going to try either Boggs, or Motte. Miguel Batista is also a possibility as well.

Hopefully, they will go with Motte.

Broxton in L.A is doing nothing but throwing batting practice.

He's a great case of fast and straight doesn't get it done in the MLB. He was lights out first half of the year last year, then went to ****.

Joe Nathan has already been benched for Matt Capps. I gotta think the Twins saw Nathan's struggles coming when they traded for Capps last year.

But I'm stuck holding Sale and Santos waiting to see which will get the opportunity if the CWS ever win another game.

would be a distinctively TLR thing to do, but please God spare us from this. TLR's bullpen logic is completely lost on me. Batista fails both the eye test and the stat test. Boggs has the stuff, but he's never at any point really had the results. Motte hasn't looked exactly right this year and only has one or maybe two major league pitches. His biggest strength all along has been his ability to throw really hard and locate it. If his location is in question at all, he doesn't have as good of an outing. I know it's awfully early, but I'd like to see Sanchez get some higher leverage opportunities as a way to prove that he can eventually be the long term closer. Ideally I'd like to see Motte as the closer. Sanchez and Boggs as the set-up men. Miller as the lefty specialist. Franklin and Salas as the 6th/7th guys. And Batista as staying away from any possible game situation thatcouldmatter, also known as the Brad Thompson role. <div>
</div><div>Sorry for the long winded rant. Cardinals baseball isn't exactly the first topic anyone wants to talk about down here in Starkville.</div>

Motte just doesnt have the stuff. His fastball is straight and his breaking ball is marginal at best. I could stomach Bautista but I just like Boggs makeup, think he has the closer's mentality.

Sanchez might have the best stuff of the group. Boggs has looked good so far, but Motte was awful good last year when he was being groomed.

Who knows with TLR. I had Motte stuffed on my bench and didn't have room for Boggs to so I'm hoping it's Motte, but he certainly hasn't done anything to earn it this year.
