I find it hard to believe that we have black jerseys and JackatShelter has not confirmed.

If the players feel better wearing a certian color fine. I remember in HS it was a big deal to wear all black. It was not a big deal to me but to many it was. If it get our guys anymore amped up I say put the own.

I still don't understand why we would wear black jerseys. That makes the least sense of any idea I have ever heard regarding Mississippi State.

And I have to say I wish we had a secondary color other than white. With just maroon and white, we don't have a lot of options.

I do like it that teams like Mississippi can pull out their alternate color for special occasions.

....made a damn difference in the outcome of the game. Teams that do that are saying one thing loudly and clearly, that they are a small time program that thinks like a small time program. It's gimmicky crap. When you're a member of the SEC you should act like it.

This is probably the only time that I will ever agree with you about anything, but you are absolutely right. It's a gimmick, and the worse thing about it is that it's very obvious that it's a gimmick. I really hope we aren't actually considering wearing black anything, and that it's just message board nonsense.

I do agree - uniforms probably never made much a difference in the outcome of a game - nor, can they be attributed to whether a program is "big time" or "small time". In the end, it doesn't really matter. Whatever gets recruits attention is all I care about to be honest.

but Georgia did it for the Florida game as well as the Bama game (which they lost badly). I wouldn't consider Georgia a "small-time" program. Now that I'm done playing the devil's advocate, I agree. If Georgia does it, it's ok but if State does it, it might make us look small-time

Black is part of Georgia's uniform colors.

Jock strap and flip-flops are OK with me, just win the game.
Paint your freaking toenails maroon, whatever.

Catch the football, run forward.
Cross that long white line.

Repeat.

Notre Dame has changed uniforms DURING the game. But, overall, I think Arrow is right. It's all gimmicky crap. It might provide a slight psychological edge, but in the end the game is going to come down to blocking and tackling. Fundamental football.

Recruits ... football players in general ... don't care about that stuff either. I don't remember one conversation about how "pretty" our uniforms were when I was there. Not ONE conversation. NONE. Or a conversation about how a uniform caused us bad luck. Or how someone else perceives our uniforms. Athletes are not concerned about **** like that. Maybe Oregon players. But, not here.

That stuff is realm of ... certain ... other ... men.

but the whole black uniform thing was still a "special" uniform for a specific game. The idea behind it was the same as if we were to use it; to add a little more attitude, excitement, etc.

But, just a heads up.

They get real sensitive around these parts if you call them sissies or gay.

Real sensitive.

I remember AD or someone else one the team saying how much mor they liked our new uniforms, and stated how you always wanna look good, etc. Also, didnt someone post on here yesterday a poll they saw where one of the top reasons recruits choose a school is how much they like their uniforms? Finally, as racist as this may sound, African American culture these days is very image-oriented and in a very African-American dominated sport, I think having a good looking uniform is a concern.

Please cease sharing your knowledge of African American culture. You don't know what you're talking about.

AD would have said that about any maroon and white uniform that we brought out this year. What is he supposed to say to a stupid question like that? AD gave a polite answer to a stupid question. His performance would be the same if we went with Nike uniforms this year. That stuff doesn't matter nearly as much to our players as it does to people like you.

A parrot or a sheep? Who are "we"? When are you going to get the courage to form your own opinions and stand on that? Rather that toeing the party line? Huh? When? Or are you always going to have to rely on the opinions of the "we" in order to be "accepted" around here? Defend the other sheep in order to "fit in". Baaaaaaaaa. I'm not impressed.

You guys make me laugh.

If you didn't have anything to refute my statement you should have left it alone.

Hiding behind the collective "we" doesn't help you.

our school color can make its fans so happy and so pissed off at the same time. Oh sweet baby Jesus, please give us the maroon helmets back. Dear sweet baby Jesus, please do not wear maroon unis.

I'm beginning to understand Veazey now.

AA - would love to see all maroon unis more often
