Every team in America has done it at one time or another. LSU wore white helmets against Notre Dame in the Indy Bowl once, I guess they are a small program that should act like they are in the SEC? Notre Dame has the famous green jerseys. Clemson comes out in all orange sometimes. Does it make a difference in the outcome? Of course not - it's a uniform. But ****, if the players like it and if it gets them pumped up, then what the hell is wrong with it? That cloud that travels around with you must get pretty annoying.

I like the all maroon look. It looks good to see your defense in all one color swarming to the ball.

I think people don't realize how different these will look without the white helmet and those socks. Give the all maroon a chance, folks.

I say if the Black gets the team pumped and ready to play and to come out with the attitude of winning then wear the hell out of it........... If they wear the black saturday and win, then from saturday on everybody on here will be liking the black. I know color has nothing to do with the outcome of the game and I know that has already been proven in previous posts.

Wear whatever..... run the field......keep them from running the field......win the damn game!!!!!!!

The idea of reverting back to those all marron nightmares on the game that will be most watched in the country sucks. Something else for people to laugh at

If you haven't noticed, most teams are starting to wear a lot of all-one-color uniforms. A quick, off the top of my head list:
Florida- All blue
Texas Tech- All black
North Carolina- All navy last night, all tar heel blue several times before
Clemson- All orange, all purple
Kentucky- All blue
Cal- All navy
Oregon State- All black
Texas A&M- All maroon
West Virginia- All navy, all gold
Southern Miss- All black, all gold

Not to mention Georgia Tech, who wears all white.

Notre Dame has changed uniforms DURING the game. But, overall, I think Arrow is right. It's all gimmicky crap. It might provide a slight psychological edge, but in the end the game is going to come down to blocking and tackling. Fundamental football.

Recruits ... football players in general ... don't care about that stuff either. I don't remember one conversation about how "pretty" our uniforms were when I was there. Not ONE conversation. NONE. Or a conversation about how a uniform caused us bad luck. Or how someone else perceives our uniforms. Athletes are not concerned about **** like that. Maybe Oregon players. But, not here.

That stuff is realm of ... certain ... other ... men.

any say in what the uniform combo will be..like for uniform contrast and such...wouldn't be surprised. The only maroon that I ever want to see on the uniforms is a maroon jersey and maroon helmets. I like maroon jersey and white trousers at home and all white on the road, with the maroon helmet...period.

Whatever get's the team pumped up! Hell, I don't care if the managers wash the maroon socks with the white jerseys and we play in pink as long as they win. OK, that would look pretty gay, but the point is that I hope they get jacked up and smack the Gators in the mouth.

but the whole black uniform thing was still a "special" uniform for a specific game. The idea behind it was the same as if we were to use it; to add a little more attitude, excitement, etc.
I guess this is where the people that have brains get lost. How does wearing a black jersey generate attitude or excitement? They should be excited to wear maroon and white. I am just completely oblivious as to how wearing the wrong color would generate anything other than resentment towards the dipshit that made the decision to do that? Do you think alabama would wear yellow jerseys because they played the number one team in the country one night? Would penn state wear green because ohio state came to their place ranked #1? I don't get it, and the reason is because it's a silly gimmick that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Wear the colors of the school, period. I don't care if we wear maroon jerseys and white pants, or white jerseys and maroon pants, or white and white or maroon and maroon. But damn, let's at least keep it to our colors.

How a player might interpret "different" as "special?" That they might realize the game means a little something extra?
You've never put on a new pair of shoes and liked the feeling that gave you?
Disagree with the idea all you want. But if you really "get lost" trying to follow the concept, I'm going to call you an dubmass.

I'm actually wearing a new pair of shoes right now and I wasn't even thinking about it until you mentioned it. Hell, if that's what we are looking for, let's just buy all the players a new pair of shoes before the game. I guess I just a view a college football game, especially this one, as already exciting, pride in wearing your school's colors. We're playing the #1 team in the country at our place, and have beaten them the last 3 times they have played here. We've had three games that were against tough teams that we easily could have won. The stadium is guaranteed to be packed, we are on national television. Our current head coach is the former OC for the other team, and it looks like they miss him. I was thinking about the game as being about all of that, not a fashion show. If there is ever a time that we should be wearing only maroon and white this is it. I'm wearing a maroon shirt right now, not a black one. Call me a dubmass if you need to, but I damn sure don't get it. It's silly, it's a gimmick, and it's unnecessary. And no, I am not old.
