“Most of the time, it’s a matter of one more hit, it’s a matter of one more play on defense, it’s a matter of making one more pitch that prevents a two-run single with two outs against you. All these games are coming down to one play on either side. And we need to be the ones to get that one more play on the positive side. You do that, you win the game and you win the series. It’s that simple.”

He fails to mention it can also be one coaching decision as well. Interesting he doesn't even mention that. Remember when coaches would sometime point the finger at themselves?

You're correct. The coaching staff needs to find how to make the players successful in doing the things mentioned. Leaving certain pitchers in too long, teaching how to sacrifice/move runners over, and my biggest pet peeve, Stop all the analytics! Play your gut feeling, it worked many years for many coaches.

Exactly. Id argue in basketball, if you are continually losing games by two points, if you are looking at the players as the cause, you probably ain't gonna fix the issue.
