Dropped to -5.5 already, but dang. Feel like that's more of a pick em or 3 pt spread type game.

I know it's on the road, and them having a dual threat QB is scary, but I think it's a huge flop if we lose by more than a TD. I think we can win for sure. They got off to a really slow start against Towson (who?!). If they get off to a slow start against us, they could be down 3 scores real quick.

I almost started a thread asking why SC is considered so highly, I don't read preseason prognosticators like I once did, What did they do in the offseason to improve?

I don’t know specifics. My brother in law is a huge SC fan and was really happy with their talent and portal work, but I didn’t remember seeing them top of lists or anything. I’m sure they’re ranked higher than us in both but still… wasn’t like I was seeing them listed with elite teams

edit: I just checked and we were ranked higher in transfer and with higher average talent

S Carolina has put up some gaudy offensive numbers vs two bad teams.
Defensively allowing about 200 yards per game.
Winnable game but Sellers is a much better QB than we faced yesterday and it’s on the road but a day game.
Early weather report looks to be hot at 92* around kickoff.

You say much better than we faced yesterday, they kept saying Lindsey is a possible late first rounder? I'm not arguing, I'm just trying to understand how that is so? Lindsey overrated or is Sellers much better than he has shown recently?

At -3.5. That’s almost as pick’em game as you can make it. 3 points for away and .5 for it at a tough place to win.

Sellers is a dual threat QB and can hurt you running- Lindsey wasn’t running anywhere yesterday but he is a good passing QB.
I didn’t see a first rounder though.

If memory serves me correctly, we have a chance to win our 3rd conference game in 3 seasons. I believe both wins in '24 and '25 were against Arkansas.

It's pretty much a case of the only way is up.

I think they start lines based on who is at home, record and team. Not how they looked at winning games. Then they start to move lines as money comes in.

Sellers has more potential and is a dual threat. He could be a better QB but it depends on the day. I thought Lindsey threw the ball pretty well against us.

From watching Sellers the last couple years the guy is either amazing or terrible. Let’s hope our D forces Sellers into a bunch of mistakes and inaccuracy.

If you can keep Sellers contained he is not a good QB. He can run tho. He also can throw interceptions. Hopefully our defense takes another step. Sellers was 10 of 23 for 96 yards and 1 interception. Against Towson. They gave up a fumble also. Towson was able to pass on them. One back averaged 3.8 a carry the other 2.8. However SC ran on them at will.

If you happened to be sitting in the USC end zone in 2000 when their 9th string QB threw a fade on “4th and Columbia” to beat us, you’d be about as confident as me about winning there. 25 + years ago, but still nauseating. Hope Kamario and Co. exact some belated revenge this Saturday.
I still get mad when I remember how we gave that one away.

the MN QB is a better QB overall and will be a higher draft pick than Sellers. They're just two different types of QBs. Sellers can beat you with his legs and can make explosive plays out of nothing.

So, he's a running QB then. Not a dual threat.

I know it's a new DC, but running QBs seem to be our kryptonite, regardless of the year, personnel, or coaching staff. Hope we can contain him, but even the ULM back up (running QB) moved the ball on us. And we did have SOME starters in at that point.

I was there. Dang cock calling every ten seconds. Kendall Roberson never saw the ball.

USCe beat Towson 45 to 9,
Navy beat Towson 42 - 15
USCe has not played anybody, at all.

USCe has clearly not been tested. I'm giving MSU the W.

Yeah, I think people are missing the OC part of this.

Kendal Briles will make Sellers a better QB this season almost by default.
Maybe. But he wasn’t that good last Saturday. We’ll see. He definitely has potential to cause us problems with his mobility. I’m not too concerned with his arm or decision making.

Point spreads are all about getting the most people to place bets. People aren't going to expect Miss St to win an SEC game just based on reputation, but they don't want to give S Carolina too many points so that the betting distribution stays level.

This. They don’t care who wins or by how much as long as they get even money on both sides.
