As they say... that’s why they play the game.. I think the 3 teams will play some ball. and I simply think the power shifted in conference.. the down part is a few team projected much higher.

I don't know. This year was the worst Lincolnton team possibly ever and we still had an opportunity to beat two of the top three teams.. I wish everyone well in the playoffs but I'm just being honest with what I have saw in the conference this season.
I get it but what are we basing these comments off of. Records, stats, points for, points allowed or what? Because I know we stand out in every one of those categories. I keep hearing speed alot. To an extent you are right; speed comes in to play. Are we talking 11 kids that all run a 4.8 or what? Because you know the average at the national combines for high school kids is around 4.7 or 4.8. if we you got one running back that is running a 4.7 then you have to contain. I get it, believe me, it's hard for people to swallow the fact that Bandys, North and West are at the top. It's hard for me to swallow that and I know that the only way we are gonna get any respect is to go deep in the playoffs but then the excuse for us will be " oh y'all were small 2A. You wouldn't do that in big 2A." .I get it but come on guys you gotta tell me what you are basing these comments off of. I'm going off of stats, which is the only thing right now. We are slower I agree but Lincolnton ton is faster, Maiden is faster, Newton Conover is definitely faster, hell North and East is faster. So how did we do it. Oh I know because everybody else sucked. See no credit ever. Not even hey those kids busted thier butts and earned the right to be where they are. You are probably right we may not make it out of the second round or maybe not even the first round but when we get beat everyone is going to say told you so, it was fluke. Am I wrong here?
I give these teams credit because they won, not denying that. I'm just giving an honest opinion based off what I have saw this season with the conference compared to competition elsewhere. I would say that we were slower this season than majority of teams at the skill position. Once playoff football comes around stats and records don't mean a thing it's a new season. And if we are going to be honest anybody looks good playing against teams like East Burke and Cherryville. Again, not taking anything away from North, West, or Bandys. Heck I hope you guys make it to state but I'm just giving an honest football opinion based off what I have saw.
Our conference is way down this year? Why because Newton, Maiden, Lincolnton, and East is not at the top. I would say it's the say as it is every year just flip flopped. Wouldn't you say the same North? 10-1, 8-3, 9-2 sounds familiar with some of the seasons of past just not the right schools to go along with it.
Yes the conference is down there is no debating that. I'm not taking any credit away from you guys but it has nothing to do with traditional powers being down this season that has made for a weak conference. Simple fact of the matter is that there are no contenders in this conference and playing a weak nonconference schedule inflates records. I have seen every conference team play except for LNC and sorry to say it, but I just don't see a team in this conference making it to Turkey day. Again, not taking anything away because the three teams had a fantastic season but ask anyone that know what championship football looks like and they will tell you it isn't in this conference this season.
I'm sorry guys, Don't mean to get anybody stirred up. Definitely not taking anything out on you Wolf. It's hard to be a Rebel lol. Papers, commentators, fans; they all say it's a fluke. Sadly the only way to get any respect is to go deep in playoffs. You're right stats mean nothing in playoffs. Different teams show up during playoff time. Our team has some big shoes to fill and it's been an uphill battle all year. Hopefully they will take it and use it to better themselves. Not mad at ya wolf, just upset with everyone else outside of this forum.
I think any three of these teams will be happy to make it through the first round. West will be for sure. Honestly these kids goal this year was not to break the school record for wins in a season, not to break almost every single season record at West but the number one goal was to get a home playoff game for the west lincoln community and the fans. That's it. That's all that matters old country boys cared about.
Truth is wolf; we suck at everything except softball, baseball and wrestling lol. Baseball may be on the down slope lol. Here's the kicker though the kids are a gluten for punishment, they keep coming back for more. Honestly if you took the heart and work ethic out of most of these kids at West and put it with the athletic ability at Lincolnton every year; you'd have a state championship every year. Let's just combine all four schools into a 4A powerhouse lol
All it takes is to make it to the playoffs. Anything can happen once you get in. Just look at college basketball and you see it all the time. As they always say " On any given Sunday " but in this case Friday. Every team has had their ups and downs, injuries and bad luck. Any team in this conference can win on a given night. I think it we may end up seeing alot of rematches in the second round.
Adjusted rankings are out. Looks like we jumped ahead of East Rutherford and Brevard. Since all three of us finnished third in conference we should have the higher seed of the three if ADM's Don't affect to much. Home playoff game and hopefully a good draw looks promising for first round.
I havent seen Ashe so I can't give you an honest opinion but Pisgah would be a tough matchup because they have a pretty good run defense but the offense isn't good. Hendersonville would give them fits because they got some athletes and throw the ball adound. To me Mt. Pleasant is the team that can surprise some folks. They are physical and well coached and have played a brutal nonconference schedule.
For some reason the adjusted rankings like them. Pisgah is #1 in the adjusted ranking so that helps the entire conference.
Still trying to figure out why its so highly regarded. All the teams in that conference are just average and play an extremely weak non conference schedule.
Ashe although I’ve only seen them in past have a nice passing attack and a few athletes that get it done. But they are in about a weak a conference as Hibriten. They get a taste of speed and size and it’s over. If they even get 3rd round id fall backwards. 1 maybe 2 and done.
Those teams in Mtn 6 will be over with quick. So will the South Fork lol. Just glad to see North fight and make it from we’re they were last year to now. Huge jump big time defense over haul but some traces of last years D still left in em which gave them some close wins and a loss against Bandys, remarkably only by 1 pt. I thought the boys had a nice chance against Bandys considering how they Bandys lost to Hickory, and had a couple close wins against struggling teams.
Next year surely they can have someone step into Cribbs shoes, put on some pounds, and get those 3rd and 2, 3rd and 1 yards they pushed to get in those situations. A shifty speed back they will have and will shock the conference with Sorrus assisting. Defense should be improved too to make another shot at a title and this time get it. I’ve also seen teams get a shot of improvement from reg season to playoffs. Shelby seems to do that a lot in their worst years. Hope the boys can make up for a disappointing election night.

Just let it play out. Pisgah will/would have their butts handed to them and fast against teams like Hibriten, Shelby, and SPoint. Especially Hibriten. But don’t expect Hibriten to be making so much noise next year. 21 seniors is a DROP.
Also will anyone help me out on if North going to NW4A/3A is logical as opposed to just falling back to Iredell schools again.

Hibriten is loaded for the foreseeable future. JVs have been good and alot of sophomores on varsity.
wouldnt count on that one my friend!! JV and middle school programs were great this year, also started jv season with a lot of inexperienced players and lost only 1, plus it looks like hardly none of the players quit. The coaching staff has done a great job, and with quite a few underclassmen playing and starting on varsity, may be a bit down but will still be very good
Oh don’t worry I’m already picking them to win conference next year. But for those 21 lost, I can’t say they will or may conquer Shelby or SPoint in playoffs next year. But if they do, super! Go Hibriten and keep representing. The South Caldwell game vs Hibriten next year should draw a crowd. They’re not losing hardly anybody but if that defense ain’t changed it’ll be more the same lol.
North Lincoln isnt that far from Iredell co, at all but. I could see them in a NW4A/3A before the NPC
HHS had almost exact amount of seniors in 2016! State Camps last year so you never know! I think a PROGRAM is in place or at least I hope!!!! Think our down years are gonna be 8-3ish not the 0-10 years in the 80’s - 90’.
