Actually looking forward to the trip Friday night. Never been to SMHS so I am excited to see the school and the community. Hope the rain holds off. Maybe SP can play a couple more games. It has been a rough season for the red raiders. Several key position players have been MIA for all or most of the season for one reason or another. Fact of the matter is you play with what you got. That's about all that could be done. This season without several key position / skilled players being on the field has exposed just how one dimensional SP currently is.. So far this year , the REDBONE has been way too predictable. We are a very young team in more than one way and have gained some valuable experience this year. I hope SP can win a couple more games and make the most of the playoffs. The fellows are making memories that will last a lifetime. Who is going to Sylva this Friday night? Go BIG Red!!!!! RR

You guys in the west are so lucky to live in the mountains. I love it out there and really want to relocate to the Waynesville area. I would love to experience a high school game in the mountains. I stopped and took pictures at the Franklin High field and was just trying to imagine attending a game there. Just beautiful, love it out there

I kinda have a feeling that my Black Bears first round game might as boring as watching paint dry, so I might take the long 15 minute trip over Balsam to watch this one. If SP can successfully stop SM 2-headed monster running attack then they'll win because SM can't pass. Not to mention SP plays in a very TOUGH conference. Does SP still have that stud Ray something or did he graduate?

I'll be making the trip to Sylva. Like rRed said have never been to Smoky Mountain High School. Looking forward to the trip. I know SMHS has a two- headed running attack. # 44 is a big back and the other back not as big but quick. As far as throwing he ball alot like SP. Has been a tough year for SP. Hope we can maybe win a playoff game. Proud of the players that will take the field. GO BIG RED

if I was a pisgah fan, the last thing I would be thinking is a first round game being boring. Especially after what happened last year.

Everyone is picking Smoky to lose but I'm not so sure.Up here in the mountains, everyone remembers South Point because of the 2016 team that run over Tuscola and Pisgah. One of the best High School team most of us had seen in years. This SP team is nowhere near that good. Playing at home Smoky has a chance.
As for the Pisgah game being boring.I hope so. Also, think those kids remember what happened last year. Guarantee you Brett has reminded them every day.

I wouldn't be surprised to see SP win by 40 and I wouldn't be shocked one bit to see them lose by 28. Outside of the injuries that have mounted up (7 starters done) and the QB deciding another path in life (crime) the play of SP has been self inflicted in the sense of being out coached. SP has talent.... just have to find ways to exploit it.

It'll take SM the first half to make adjustments to that.
I'm going to say SP by 14.
Not your typical SP team this season as they have dealt with a ton of injuries. However, you can prepare all you want to face that offense but it is a lot different when you see it up close. If Grier plays then that will be the difference for SP imo. SM has not seen a team that plays the way SP does so I think it will shock them a little bit. If they can get past the shock of how they block then they may have a chance.

Agreed this is not your typical SP team but if they can capitalize on a few big plays they could win this one. It’s not going to be easy I do not think.

The competition SP has played is much better than SM's one or two tough games they've played. SM is good but very one dimensional. SM defense is good but SP offense will give them fits. By the time they figure it out the game will be over.

Of SP's losses the only real confusing loss was to Forestview. The wins haven't been quite as impressive as past years but losses to Crest, Burns, Clover (SC), Shelby and Chase are quality defeats if there is such a thing. Clover remains undefeated in the 5A class in SC.... outside of obvious (3) teams I also expect Chase to turn heads in the playoffs if they can muster some stops. Their offense is pretty legit.

Did small 1a Robbinsville beat Smoky Mtn? If so there is no way Smoky should beat even a down South Point team...

DaBluePrint1, Robinsville would give SP a better game than SM will. Especially if SP was playing in BigOaks stadium.

That’s would be a virtual clone of South Point. Both teams will line up and run it right at you. Team that wins in the trenches and the turnover battle should win.

We are already in the area for the game Friday. Decided to make a week long road trip to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, the Foothills Parkway and the Dragon. It has been very cold and some snow Tuesday but a great time here. Can't wait for the game Friday night and a Red Raider playoff win if the A team shows up. Leave the Forestview and Chase game players in Belmont.

Looks like the low in Sylva and Canton Friday night will be around 27-30 degrees. Also Looks like no rain in the forecast. Great night for playoff football!

Get there early enough to check out the WCU campus. Hidden gem and, yes, I'm a little bias. I wish they could recruit some more in state kids up there. Good luck to both teams

Yes it is a beautiful campus in a wonderful area. I believe Shelby has a few on the WCU roster.

I guess I'm a little bias too, since I grew up 30 mins away from WCU and played there. But, I've never for the life of me have been able to figure out why WCU doesn't recruit more local and NC kids. Not only is the talent comparable to what we have coming to Cullowhee from other states, but it would also boost attendance and revenue which in turn would help better establish the program. That model worked out pretty well for App...
