They look decent if you look at their personnel on offense.

Charles Huff was on with Matt Wyatt today - saying MSU has a &12-14 M on n this roster. Basically making a point to the USM fans that it takes money

21 followed him from Marshall, they finished 10-3.
It was only about 5 or 6 starters, though. That does include a quality QB. But otherwise I think it’s mostly WR’s and DB’s.

I suspect they are going to struggle at the line of scrimmage, which is pretty common for teams in Year 1 of a rebuild.

Until proved otherwise, our team is puke until they prove it on the field. I would take a partial 10-3 transfer team over a collection of random transfers any day, especially for an opening day game. Team chemistry will be the deal breaker for this game and season.

The thing people aren’t grasping, IMO, is we can be a bad team that goes 3-9 and still win this game by 3 TD’s. That is entirely within the realm of possibility.
Exactly. I’ve never seen so many people terrified of playing a bad Sunbelt team. I can’t wait for the meltdown when people find out we play Alcorn this year.

QB was bad against the better teams on their schedule. He's a run first guy in a new passing offense.

Not all of the Marshall transfers were starters. I would be willing to bet less than 30% of them.

Damn, that's harsh.

We beat them by 3 TDs year before last... with Arnett as our head coach. I don't understand why people assume 65 new transfers to USM all of a sudden skyrockets them to SEC caliber, while our 54 transfers (or whatever it was) somehow makes us worse?

Nah. Their QB will make a few big plays with his legs because their OL will break down and he'll escape pressure a couple times, but other than that they will still be a Sunbelt team going up against an SEC team.

Comparing Marshall’s depth chart from last year to USM’s depth chart now, it’s the following starters:

- Quarterback
- 3 Receivers
- 2 DB’s

That’s it. That’s all the starters they brought from Marshall. And one of the WR’s missed a lot of time last year due to injury and one of the DB’s was technically listed as a backup at Marshall last year…. so I’m being generous to even include those guys.

If these transfers were all that great the people who know the Sunbelt Conference would have probably picked them somewhere better than 5th out of 7 teams in their division.
