It was painfully obvious after his first couple of starts that he just doesn't have it anymore. Was a hell of a pitcher with 212 wins and over 150 saves, but he should have elected to go to the booth at the beginning of this season instead of Boston.

My question is, when will we see him on the champion's tour?

Correct your 17 up from the offseason. Bring Smoltz back home. He can help the overworked bullpen.

Sincerely,

like Wren made the right move in not signing Smoltz. I would rather see the Braves bullpen hold together than to see Smoltz give up 4 runs per inning during a trip down memory lane

Smoltz can still be effective out of the pen. He doesn't have the stamina to be a starter anymore, but he can still be nasty for an inning or two when he doesn't have to worry about pacing himself. And let's not forget, we've got 4 guys in the top 10 in appearances this season (Moylan, O'Flaherty, Gonzalez, Soriano). We need another arm out there that Bobby is willing to trust and take some of the innings from those guys. Plus, it would let us do something different with Acosta, who's been pretty much awful in any pressure situation.

there is no way in hell Smoltz would help our bullpen. The guy is done. I just hope he signs one of those one day contracts so he can retire as a Brave; he should be a first ballot Hall of Famer. It's been weird to see him in another team's uniform.

don't you think if Smoltz could be effective in the bullpen that Boston would have put him there. Wren made the right move

1) The proper name for O'Flaherty is O'****.

2) Acosta has been terrible in just about any situation.

For example, Maddux won something like 196 of his 300+ wins with the Braves, and won 3 of his 4 Cy Young awards with them. For that reason, he will go into the Hall of Fame as a Brave.

So it just depends on where Clemens got most of his wins, Ks, etc. etc.

however it is supposed to be indicative of the historical achievements of the player.

from the hall of fame's website

Who decides what team logo will be used on Hall of Fame plaques?

The choice of which team's logo appears on a player's plaque is the Museum's decision, though we always consider the wishes of an inductee. As a history Museum, it's important that the logo be emblematic of the historical accomplishments of that player's career. A player's election to the Hall of Fame is a career achievement, and as such, every team for whom he played is listed on the plaque; however, the logo selection is based on where that player makes his most indelible mark.
