They are sucking the life out of Mississippi State University. They have no interest in protecting MSU students they just like busting up in bars with their tazers drawn looking for a way to ruin a students semester. The SPD are a bunch of young peckerwoods that suck at life. Mississippi State will never get to the next level that Keenum and Co. wanna take it if this contiunues and we will always be "the town that fun forgot."

don't drink and drive. Yea, I did it in college but if you get caught, so be it.

I find no fault with cops who want to trap people for drinking and driving.

is with the raids in bars. The SPD has been known to do checks inside the bars themselves. They also have a new tactic of using undercover officers in the bars looking for a variety of different arrestable offenses. The behavior of the undercover officers has been called into question a few times. Complaints range from provoking fights to hitting on the girls and then reacting when dates or boyfriends take offense.

I generally support the SPD. Some of the officers give the rest an undeserved bad rep.

You cannot be serious. So undercover cops are provoking fights and then arresting people for assault and/or battery? Can you say entrapment?

It is amazing how many times I see young douchebag uniformed cops come into the bar and just hang out and hit on girls they know. Granted I'd rather them hang out than write tickets, but its still gay. Do your real job. Also, concerning the cops being overzealous; just last Thursday I had a Sherriff's Deputy threaten me b/c I dropped the F-bomb in Mugshots.
Also, on another occasion I had an ABC officer basically wrestle my beer out of my hand and tell me he was going to write me a ticket if I didn't leave. When I replied with "what would you write me a ticket for? I'm 21" he responded with "it's 1:01, you're not supposed to be in here anymore." (I was standing downstairs trying to leave).
I have no problem with DUI traps. I know too many people that have gotten hurt b/c of drunk driving. But some of the stuff the SPD does really is ridiculous.

That is the only reason I got pulled over cause I didn't have my seat belt on.... I'm 21 if I wanna risk my life that should be my choice... I don't need big brother looking after me.. Oh it was last week in the month... can you say QUOTA?? Also I got pulled over the other night for suspicion of D.U.I as it turns out I just had gotten off my shift reffing basketball... All the cops in Stark I have seen are about mid twenties...

I was in Starkville for a football game in Novemeber. We went to some new bar dowtown, Ampitheater maybe? We were standing by the bar (place was crowded) and four cops came through that place bumping shoulders and combing it like an America's most wanted top 10 was in there. I live in Houston and have never seen this **** at a bar and I have lived here my whole life. And if I ever do, I'm getting the 17 out of dodge because bullets are about to fly.

It was really a joke watching these guys. We just stood there shaking our heads saying "what in the hell are these guy's doing? Isn't that why you have a bouncer?

I got one last month on a Sunday morning around 7:30 driving to the curb store 1/2 block from my house. I had my damn sweats on with my dog in the car and the 17ing cop wants me to get out of the car and tell him where I'm going and all this other ********. I was simply driving to get the paper and all I have to do is drive across the street from my neighborhood to the C-Store. The dipshit did a U-turn to pull me over for a seatbelt, which I usually wear.

Look, I completely agree with your sentiment about it being your choice as to whether to wear a seat belt or not. My stance is the only person I can kill by not wearing it is myself, unlike other auto related law such as speeding or DUI. With that said, you know the damn law so just wear the thing.

An ABC officer saw me walk out of coconuts with a 6 pack. He had a car pulled over, he stopped what he was doing did a u-turn and pulled me over. I had my license ready for him at the window. I was legal. He seemed kinda pissed.

and i prob wouldn't have had a problem with it if I would have gotten pulled over for speeding running a stop sign etc etc etc... The fact is he was headed somewhere and pulled a U turn on 12 just to give me a seatbelt ticket...

Police in Starkville, like most small towns, seem to have a type of the little man syndrome. They are pissed off at college kids, because they did not go, and are always on a power trip. I find it very amusing. Just don't break any laws and you should have no problems. I don't see that going on in New Orleans, Memphis, and Jackson, there are bigger fish to fry and real crime to fight...

it's how they do them. I witnessed one such check. I had an informed hunch it was going to happen and I went just to watch. As a taxpayer, I found the behavior of a couple of the younger ones hard to stomach.

something similar a few years ago. UC cops starting **** in bars doesn't appear to be a new phenomenon in Starkville.

and often are. The real douchewads though are the ABC guys. As a former bartender in Starkville, I was made to sit through a little "class" with two of these guys, and can honestly say, the powertrips that some of the SPD officers have pale in comparison to these homos. These are guys whose only job is to ensure a complete lack of fun by anyone under 21 and the company those people keep. IAt least police officers have to "Serve and Protect"; ABC dudes just confiscate drinks and write MIPs. I mean, these guys carry guns. Is that really necessary? When your job is to take drinks from college kids and write tickets for MIPs and fake IDs, do you REALLY need a gun? No, but they carry them because it makes them feel important. In my humble opinion, ABC douches rank slightly below mall cops in terms of respectable law enforcement.

My girlfriend got a MIP a few years ago and it was a ridiculous ordeal. This douche bag cop (I think his name is Word) grabs her out of her stool where she was sitting by me and our friends minding our own business, not acting like drunk freshman. I know she shouldn't have been drinking, but who didn't? Well she proceeds to be escorted out and he begins to drill her. Asking her all kinds of aggressive questions one after another trying to get her upset. Naturally, my girlfriend is scared to death since this is her first, and only, run in with the law. She was asked to give her name, which she responded by saying the name she goes by (Goes by her middle name). After he runs a check on her, he returns and starts raising his voice at her asking why she lied to him by giving him the wrong name. She responded by saying "I did not lie, that is the name I go by."
He then proceeds with a line that I can't forget, "Do you think I like doing this stuff? I do this in my spare time to make money. I work rape and murder cases!"

I visited Starkville last year for the OM baseball series. One morning, I went out to get some air in my tire. I spent about 90 minutes trying to find an air hose. Why? because all the other air hoses were torn up or the boxes themselves were ripped out.

That's just one example about young men and women who lack maturity and self-control. You need to ask youself- what would happen if SPD or ABC was a bunch of soft, weak, pussified girly boys trying to enforce the law? You'd give them even less respect than you do right now. Then, after you push them enough, pull out their pistols and start shooting.

When I was a Freshman at Millsaps, President Harmon commissioned a gate to be put around the campus. We dubmass students complained that trying to keep them in prison. No, what he was trying to do was keep us safe from an unsafe neighborhood, after a rash of robberies and assaults.

Sixpack consensus appears to be that the police are bad and evil, and the students are pristine and pure. Just a contrary opinion from an old fart.

Air hoses? Really? You're blaming students?

Maybe one of your children will eventually attend State. No matter how well you raised them and no matter how strong their morals may be, either they or one of their friends will eventually cross paths with the SPD. Then you'll understand.

You are idiots, and you are blind to the fact.

You can ask any college guy (not kid) that goes to the bar and I will bet he has a story about these jokes. Most of the Starkville cops are just doing their jobs, but it's the young ones that get on a power trip. Their behavior inside bars is just horrendous. They hit on girls and hassle people. ABD cops have taken this to a new level.

My dumbass got 2 MIP's when I lived in Hattiesburg. Both were a few months before I turned 21. They actually sent 14 year old into a gas station to try to buy beer and the jackass happened to see them not card me. I got busted... tough ****... my fault. The other time was in the Hattiesburg Mugshots.

To say these guys are using our taxpayer money for something like this is a joke. Starkville cops take it to a lew level but I have no respect for ABC and never will.

Either:

A) follow the law and don't drink until you're 21....or

B) Talk to your legislator about lowering the drinking age to 18. It was 18 when I was in school...sux for you.

You're a tool. I'm sorry but you have no idea about how ridiculous ABC has gotten here. I'm 6 months away from being 21 and I can't have a single beer in a bar without looking over my shoulder hoping I don't get an MIP. A few weeks ago me and this guy were sittin at the bar drinkin beer and minding our own business when an ABC pulled him away and gave him an MIP, I got lucky and set my beer down and walked away. I think as long as you're minding your own business and not acting like an idiot, cops should not just go around randomly asking for id's when there are no problems. I agree that there should be road blocks for drunk driving but ABC has gotten ridiculous. Trust me I live here. Oh by the way I was in New Orleans this weekend and I had 2 drinks in my hand and I would walk past cops like it was no big deal. I know that NOLA is way different than starkville but it just shows that they have the right priorities like dealing with drunk idiots.

-Wait 6 months, and you can do it legal....or

-Have one of your over-21 friends buy beer by the case and you drink at home....or even better

-Join the military and earn the right to drink heavily.

But the cops walk in and say they got a noise complaint from our neighbor. I asked which neighbor and he said it didn't matter. My roommate then spouts off, All our neighbors are here. The cop then put one of my roommates in handcuffs. They told us everyone had to leave that instant and they didn't care if we had DDs to take them home. So the cops forced people to drive drunk or get arrested. Marvelous police work.
