1984? Bears/Packers game. At the time I believe it was the coldest game the Bears had played. It may still be. All I know was it was miserably cold.
You and MC63 are correct. According to the link I posted before, your game was the coldest. Congratulations!! Much respect here.

The first one I went to is tied for 4th coldest against Green Bay on 12/17/1989. It was 10 degrees at kickoff. The Packers won 40-28 and I remember Majkowski having a good day. The Bears were awful and turned the ball over several times and got booed big time.

It was cold and the wind chill was -7. But I wasn't uncomfortable. We stayed to the end.

The other was against Tampa Bay on 12/23/1990 and the temp was 11 at kickoff. That game was cold too because the wind chill was -3. But again I was fine and we left when it ended.
I cannot be 100% certain but I believe I was at both of these games, which is hilarious because I have only been to 2 Bears games ever.

1st game Packers: we literally had the the worst seats in the top row in the corner of the stadium. I got very drunk, started out rooting for the Packers annoying all the people around me but after enough schnapps I was leading the entire section singing the Bear's fight song. Stayed the whole game.

2nd game Tampa Bay: we had very good end zone seats about 15 rows from the field, but the wind was blowing right in our faces and left just after halftime. Those Bear's fans get pretty hostile when you look like your leaving early due to the cold. :)

Coldest HS Game - 1976 Class 5A (Largest Class in'76) Championship Game at Hancock Stadium (ISU) St Laurence vs Glenbard West - I think the bank across the street registered 3 degrees with wicked windchill and ice covered ground - but the good guys won in OT
Coldest Pro Game - Bears vs Falcons in Dec 2005 - single digits by end of game - I think it was 5 and again wicked wind chill. It was so cold, Michael Vick gave up and headed to locker with several minutes remaining - again, good guys won
Coldest College Game - USC at Notre Dame in 1998 (I think '98) Game time temp of 62 degrees - I don't get to too many college games -

If you were at the Tampa Game then you have to remember what happened about half way through the 4th quarter...yes? Let me refresh your memory.

We had seats at the 20 yard line on the Bears side about 25 rows up. It was cold. Right around the end of the 3rd quarter four or five guys took their shirts off maybe 15-20 rows above us. Everyone around us thought that was crazy...and it was.

BUT, about halfway through the 4th quarter there was a commotion in the end zone seats to our right which was the closer end zone to us. At first we didn't know what it was. Then we saw him. There was a guy running up and down the stairs wearing nothing but his underwear and boots! People were going nuts. Then he stopped, sat down in a seat and crossed his leg and looked out to the field as if he was just watching the game.

Then he got up again and by this time security had arrived to get him out of there. As they grabbed him, fans started throwing snow balls at him. Then someone nailed him in the back with a snow ball and you could see the guy wince in pain.

I looked over to the guy I was at the game with and said: "I am now totally convinced football fans are the craziest fans in all of sports." Before, I thought it was hockey fans. But football fans edge them out.

Hey, was that guy in the end zone seats you, Kevin JCHS '81??? LMAO!

We wanted to leave at halftime but the Bear's fans were pretty unfriendly to anyone who looked like they were leaving. I think we made it one play into the 3rd quarter (the kick off) when we decided we had enough and left.

I can't even say I wished I had seen that because we didn't have enough schnapps to last past halftime.

If I was capable of such stupidity it definitely would have been the Green Bay game, that was a Historic Drunk. And most of the stories from that Drunk didn't even occur until after the game when we tried to go eat at Lou Malnati's (I think).

I was told, I gave my gold plated Mickey Mouse watch to the waitress as a tip (during our meal), in between times that our group (with the Drunk...me) was being warned that we might be asked to leave.

It was all Down-hill after that.

I was sober at both games. Just a couple beers. Had to drink them before they froze. Ice did form around the edges of the cup. There was an altercation right by us in the Green Bay game. Some guy a row in front of us and a little to the left, had a Green Bay pennant on a stick. He was minding his own business and really wasn't even standing up when the Packers scored, etc. Pretty quiet.

But, in the 4th quarter, when the Bears were down and it looked hopeless, some drunk Bears fan chick figured she had seen enough of that pennant and from behind, took it away from him and broke the stick. The guy got pissed off and started yelling at her. Not a good move with male Bears fans around him and a good looking woman being yelled at. A scuffle started and then security came AND, escorted the Packer fan guy outside, of course. Good times! :)

I lost a Teva sandal at a Bears game ... preseason 1997, endzone tickets from Budweiser. HUGE rain storm canceled the game. Walking back to the 66 bus line (I lived at Chicago/Ashland then), I stepped on "grass" - my foot sunk to my calf. Pulled my foot out, sandal gone. Walked the city streets soaked and shoeless ... was not even that drunk!

Interestingly enough some of those drunken Bear fans after the game would come to the old stadium for a Blackhawk game. We had a paddy wagon there as these guys would be peeing in the streets, cussing up a storm, passed out or starting fights. Wasn't unusual to arrest 20-30 guys each night that the Bear game was followed by a Blackhawk game. Most of these yokels were from the suburbs and thought they could do whatever they wanted to no matter who was around. Needless to say, a few of the more drunk ones wanted to argue or fight with the police. Not a good move! I'll leave it that!.

Are you sure? I never heard of a Bear game canceled by rain or anything else including fog, JFK's funeral and blizzards.

To be fair, the game was postponed rather than cancelled. To be honest, I couldn't recall even a postponement. (I hardly ever went to exhibition games ... if it doesn't count, I'm not there.)
It was free NFL and the final game to decide starters. It counts just as much as a 5A title.

That is the only time I have been to Soldier Field...it was beautiful earlier in the day, then the skies just opened up and it just flooded everything...Boss walked in, said somebody gave him tickets for that night and he couldn't use them, gave them to me and the other associate...but I seem to recall it being a weeknight, not a Saturday...whatever...leaving the walkway was almost knee deep in water...didn't bother to come back the next night.
