Speaking of going to Columbus, does anyone remember the Mexican Kitchen?

Was on 82 East in Columbus. It was a regular Friday ritual to go there with my fraternity brothers. They had a small, medium and large plate. The large plate had 4 tacos, 4 enchiladas, 4 tamales, rice, beans and there were very hot peppers on the table. It was really good back then-anyone know if it is still open?

As far as I know, it's still open. It's been a couple years since I've been there though.

I remember my brother talking about going there and that was late 60's. I never went there for some reason.

and packed to the hilt every time they open the doors. They now serve lunch if I'm not mistaken and then night menu is still the same as it was 20 years ago. Mom has gone back to Mexico for a while and the son is running the show now.

Been a couple of years since I've been, but my parents and I used to frequent the place at least once a month. Good stuff.

put the stub out and pull it to her body and then grab it w/ the good hand, always creeped me out. That was in the early 80's.

She would use that stub to do a lot of things. Sweet lady most of the time.

It's located in East Columbus on highway 182 which is the street that runs through downtown Columbus and then east. After you go past the Wendys in east Columbus, it's right after the second redlight past Wendys on the right. There is an O'reily auto store next door.

Here is a review written by one of the Imes (newspaper family) boys on Yelp.

Located in East Columbus, Mexican Kitchen is a long-standing Columbus restaurant. The menu has remained unchanged for years, but features basic staples such as tacos, enchiladas and tamales. Rather than serve you chips, they give you warmed taco shells that have been broken in half along with a unique salsa and a bowl full of jalapenos. The interior is a little dark but is fulled with old western and mexican knick-nacks. The place used to have a covered wagon and several horses on the roof, but a storm blew it down a few years ago. Now, just a lonely neon jalapeno on the front face of the place.

is much better quality than the one in columbus. Been going to it even before I knew i was going...about 30 years give or take. The damn kitchen dip is the ****. Like catching a unicorn to perfect the recipe. I am damn close but it just aint quite the same. Even tried having folks infiltrate their ranks to "borrow" it. Place is an institution...
