I always thought Tatum was quite hot too. She is nutty though and I'm not talking McEnroe-level nutty but truly nutty. Other than having a big temper and a big ego McEnroe is fairly normal. Tatum O'Neal, like the others in her family, is pretty far out there.

Years ago I read both McEnroe's autobiography and Tatum's. While of course they both had their own version of their relationship, one sad thing was that when both of them gave their account of their first time having sex they both said they regretted the circumstance. They were both high and they were in a cold house with no heat (Farrah's I think) and it was kinda sad how although both of them didn't like the other at that point they still looked back and regretted being so careless about their first sexual encounter.

At one time I was reading a lot of biographies and after I read McEnroe's I felt compelled to read Tatum's too to get her side. I think McEnroe said he had an affair with Cher but I could be misremembering. He definitely said he had one with a famous woman that he would not name to protect her privacy.

He described the Hollywood party where he and Tatum met. He described how Tatum's father Ryan O'Neal basically forced him to play racquetball because he wanted to beat McEnroe at a racquet sport and as I recall he did. He also mentioned that he went to the same high school as Katrina Vanden Heuvel, who is a political pundit (on the left) and who works for I think The Nation magazine. He mentioned how he once almost missed a US Open match because of Tatum's brother but I forget the details...I think his brother forgot something so they want back to get it and then when they got back on the road to get to the US Open the traffic was bad and he almost didn't get there.

Tatum's whole clan was crazy. I'm not sure she ever knew her mother.

It's not too surprising that people that get together just because they're famous don't stay married.
