I always thought tearing down the goalposts was lame, but remember when football felt like this:

The upper deck and suites put on that side of the stadium did wonders. It looks like an actual SEC stadium now instead of Conference-USA.

and very true to the point, the stadium looks incredible now compared to that

I will never forget in the bum-rush to get onto the field, someone jumped the fence separating the band from the rest of the crowd, and landing on a tuba. The tuba folded up like a piece of tin foil. Elva Kaye Lance's only comment was "that is the price you pay when you beat Florida".

Really? I remember when the posts were torn down after we beat Florida in 2004. As I was jumping the fence to get onto the field, I lost my footing and landed right in the damn bushes. It wasn't until after the on-field mayhem ended that I realized I had huge cuts on both legs (I was wearing shorts) and was bleeding profusely. However, that was quickly remedied with a long night of drinking until I blacked out. Man I miss college.

<span>The post came down and I almost broke a rib on the landing. Then, the posts did this bounce thing and came back and hit me in the ribs again. Double shot from the crossbar. Last time I ever tore down a goal post. Like the rest, by the end of the night I felt no pain. Asher Roth says it best:

I loved that game. My favorite of all time. People talk about the 6-3 Alabama game but in that case we probably slipped up on them and caught them by surprise. We were on top of the world in 2000 and I remember telling a friend of mine before the season that UF may win that game but if so they would be limping out of town bruised and bloodied. The last time UF came to Starkville, they were nationally ranked and we beat them 30-6. No way they were looking past this game. They came in nationally ranked third and undefeated. We kicked their *** that day. Much worse than the score indicated. My favorite game ever! Loved evey play.

I picked a good one to take him to.

I remember thinking, after we went up 47-23, that we were about the best team in the nation, and that we'd never be bad again.

with about 1:30 left and stood on the other 20 yard line. If you can see a missing few hedges, thats where my buddy pushed me as I was just about to jump over the fence. I fell into them face first. I remember giving Jabar Gaffney the 'slit of the throat' because he did it to Tennessee the week before. Then I found the Florida equipment guy and beat the **** out of him.

that, unlike virtually any MSU game, the score wasn't nearly indicative of how the game went. We really, really whipped their ***. Was it 3 times in a row that the center snapped the ball over the quarterback's head -- all because he was that damned intimidated?

And the thing was -- we fully expected to win that game. I didn't expect to whip their *** the way we did. But, damn.

At halftime, I can assure you there wasn't much that the ole ball coach could say to make a difference.

Remember Smoot Smack?

I used to have a good quote from him about that game but I can't find it now.. something about Spurrier's decision to take a safety on a 4th and one rather than go for it: "He knew either way it was going to happen."

There were a few more, maybe better, but that's all I can remember right now. -78 rushing yards for the Gators that day.
