Why do we continue to suck on kickoffs and punt returns? We have a potentially electric return man but he has no chance to break one even against a Div I-AA team. We definitely need a new scheme on kickoff returns. We haven't done anything in that area since Croom has been here. I don't know **** about special teams(although it's easy to see our punter sucks)...anyone care to enlighten me?

at least croom is consistent at one thing.
Noone on the staff knows anything about special teams...and likely never will
Since croom has been here, we had beamers kid..and put him in a position other than st, so that the great amos jones could be the st cord.
then he was finally fired, and the "nice guy" reed stringer was given a pay raise.
We continue to do the same ole same ole.
watch the gunners on punt returns, they are usually the ones who make the tackles, as we cant block them or we give them 5 yards off the line and they juke us.
Kickoffs..all about timing.
we set up return right/left, and by the time the couple blockers are in place the defenders are on them and the returner is up their ***.
Proper timing would allow the line to form, and would be signaled "go" when the catch is made to start clearing a lane..because naturally the return man is far faster than the others.
But..so simple..but never happens.
instead we got a big pancake and maybe 15 yard return.
