Spoiler: The Matrix Resurrections is awful.

I finished it on sheer determination. I thought they worried about minor parts of past storyline way too much and made a jumbled mess.

Shocking.

You can't really duplicate the original story, along with how those special FX looked in the late 90s early 2000s.

I dont even pay much attention to the blockbusters anymore. Spiderman is apparently good, but there's little I even care to see from this year that made its way to large cinemas.

I thought Spiderman was good but also had some blah moments as well.

As per usual.. these movies get majorly blown up by comic book fans. It's not the first time I heard "no, this is the best comic book movie ever!"

I imagine I'll probably enjoy Spiderman. I do like Tom Holland (more for his non-marvel work), but they just aren't my style of movie.

I thought it was ok, maybe a 5 out of 10. Had some good parts and definitely some cringe parts. I would have definitely been disappointed more if I had watched it in a theatre and not just on HBO max.

I tried as hard as I could to detect a plot. It didn't have to be good, ok, or terrible, it just had to be one... but there was no plot at all in the movie? It had kind of a "Hugh Grant awful romantic comedy" smell to it that percolated with stupid action like snot lava thing going on, but in today's action movies especially with Keanu not even bothering to change his John Wick look, that's the best action they could come up with for a series that originated as next level action?

Godzilla vs King Kong, Dune, now this dud. Need to completely clean out Hollywood as the place is infested with good-old-boy insiders recycling the same crap. If it wasn't for the Coen Brothers they might as well not be making any movies anymore.

I hate to be in the minority but I didn't really like any of the Matrix movies. The first one was decent as it was original and had cool FX. The others were just psychobabble - staring into your belly button and mainly a vehicle for action scenes. Just none of them really captured me. Haven't even taken the time to watch the trailer of this latest one.

2 and 3 were more or less meh. 2, I guess was OK, 3 was ****.

They've been cashing in on the first one ever since, but that was a fantastic movie IMO.

I remember my family got a new plasma big box TV and sound system in like, 2002. And the Matrix scene where they have the shootout in the lobby is what we showed to family members who came over. The FX and sound design was fantastic, but back then, that CGI was well done and worked. But now every movie can do the same. I saw nothing in the Matrix 4 trailer that wasn't something I had seen already.. but when the original Matrix came out? Mind blowing. They basically invented Bullet-Time for so many other movies and video games.

Shouldn't come as a shock that the new one isn't good. No one champions the sequels and they decided to dip into that well once again almost 20 years later when no one was pining for it. I get it though. If Cruise can still do films from a movie series that began in 1996 and a sequel to Top Gun, Keanu is probably thinking why can't I? (Matrix and Bill and Ted)

Hollywood, or maybe it's because Disney has practically taken over, has forgotten that adults want to watch movies too. Everything heavily promoted seems directed at kids or guys in their 40's who really need to feel that 80's and 90's nostalgia.

Don't really need to write or read a review. Just know that this is an awful incomprehensible mess not worth the 15 seconds it takes to click on and read this post. Your life will be better if you agree with me. That is all.
I thought the trailer looked bad. I liked the first two films. Thought the third one was awful.

Cruise's MI movies are great. The last helicopter fight sequence in Fallout culminating with the fight on the edge of the cliff is unconsciously spectacular.

Same thing with James Bond though... WHY the need to change/screw up the music? Just stop messing with the music and use the original score PERIOD.

Finished it. Last half better than first half. That’s not saying much but it does improve slightly.

You gotta go with arthouse movies these days. A24 is where all the good stuff is made now

that’s exactly what I thought. Definitely improved and I was interested at times in the second half, but only slightly

Well, the brothers who made the first one are both chicks now so that should tell you all you need to know.
Who cares? Bound was great btw.

Completely agree on the MI films. They seem to get better as Cruise gets older. I haven't seen some of the Bond films but plan to soon.

Definitely. I loved (looking at A24 film list) Locke, Amy, Ex Machina, Room, Green Room, Midsommar, First Reformed, De Palma, The Florida Project, Uncut Gems, Killing of a Sacred Deer, First Cow, Minari, Hereditary, Saint Maud, The Green Knight, The Witch, and The Lighthouse. That's pretty amazing for less than a decade. Speaking of Robert Eggers though, I'm really looking forward to The Northman.

Jesus H. Christ how do two brothers BOTH decide they want to be women? That’s not even statistically possible I would guess. Those two are probably so codependent it’s scary.

I have a long-time acquaintance who traveled south of the border to get his junk removed -- and not long after, his boyfriend did the very same thing. They live together as women now. To put it mildly, that's not for me, but if it makes them happy, then whatever. :)
