Strengths
1. Both QBs look comfortable in the new offense. Barker's had the one terrible throw for the int but came right back and ran a beautiful 2-minute drill. Johnson has looked very solid. Not as good as DB throwing but not horrible, either. Very nice runner. Handles the ball fake very well.
2. Like the offensive scheme. Seems like both QBs have been well-schooled as they're going through their progressions and not just focusing on 1 option.
3. We've got some darn good skill players. Horton, Jojo, King all look legit and Boom's not even playing. 4 good RBs give us a lot of options. WRs look pretty good - gotta do something about the drops. CJ is gonna be a stud this year.
4. Both OLs look good run blocking. Pass protection has been a little spotty but perhaps that's because the rush is just a bit better than last year.
5. Secondary is SEC strong. With even a little pressure on the QB, our secondary is gonna be very tough.
6. All of the starting D looks more athletic than last year's. Still missing a bunch of assignments, though.

Weaknesses
1. Punter is kicking distance okay, not great, but doesn't seem to have much hang time. Gotta be better at that phase this year.
2. DL is getting punished on the run game. Lots of holes to run through and the tackling hasn't been crisp. Need a lot of work this offseason to improve.
3. WR drops - gotta fix that.
4. Front 7 look more athletic but not making many plays thus far.

I am starting to see more talented depth as strength as weakness D line and droppsies by wid recievers. Talent looks to be building at Kentucky slowly but surel.

At this point it's obvious that we *really* need that transfer from Nebraska. Bell will most likely never do anything and the rest are playing to their ranking. Would like to see kengera Daniel get extended time...

Bright spots (player-wise)
Jordan Jones
Kobie Walker
starting corners
left side of o-line
Gunner Hoak

Disappointing
Transfer LB's--- I didn't see much from either
Elam was terrible
Nothing from Greenwood or Richardson at WR

Biggest disappointment: DL play. 2nd biggest: OT play. We've got to find a left OT who will not just get abused by SEC pass rushers. GOT TO.

Our DL yesterday was awful, I thought. 2nd team OL consistently created big holes in the 1st team DL and that's just unacceptable. Elam was getting no push. Same old, stand up and not move back. Well, imo, that's just plain not good enough. Ware looked good but we obviously have no OTs that are SEC-worthy so his production must be discounted. While we have depth, doesn't look like much of it will be good enough vs. a decent SEC team. And, once again, we have no clue vs. read option. Johnson had some many running lanes it was funny. In a 'here we go again' sort of way, of course.

We might still get to 6 wins but I can't believe it will be because of the defense (except the secondary which is legit).

RB's look good,DB's look good and a few other pieces of the defense look good(LB's seem improved)

OL,DL not very impressive,WR's still dropping the ball and I didn't see a clear cut leader at the QB spot.Barker appears to have been given the spot(probably the correct thing to do) but there doesn't appear (to me) to be a clear separation .

I am not sure what I was hoping to see but what I saw wasn't it.The only real separation of talent was the first team DB's vs the second team DB's.

Several will probably disagree but that is how I saw yesterday

As long as this is the case we will never win SEC games or beat Louisville consistently. Will be more of the last 5 years. Nothing to get too excited about IMO, especially since WR's are still dropping balls. That kills what little momentum we ever generate.
