RB is one of the positions that everyone wants to see who we go with going forward. Almost every State fan I know and who post on mb's talk about wanting to see who will take over and will it be Griffin or Robinson. Will someone please explain to me why there is no excitement over Ladarious Perkins? Reekris people, he has played very well as a rFR and Soph. Why cant he continue to develop and be the guy? Please spare me with the "he's just not an every down back" garbage. This is college, not the NFL. Reggie Bush and LaMicheal James didnt have any problems in college. Not saying he is that elite but if you gameplan for him in a similar fashion (misdirection/counter, sweeps, screens, flare outs, mixed in with inside stuff) I believe he could be our guy for the next 2 years.

Perkins is not a 15-20 carry/game guy...plus, him blocking presents problems if you want Russell to stay upright

But where do you get more value with Perkins, as a reciever or blocker? I would assume that if you are primarily using him as a blocker on passing downs, you are misusing him. I have to disagree on one thing, I believe he could give you 15 carries a game. Maybe not 25 but def 15

to protect the QB. I agree that he should be used catching the ball- and he should also get 10 carries each week. But Perkins just isnt built for 15+ carries or 3rd and 2 situations...

I love the guy and want to see him take on a bigger role for sure- But I think you max him out at about 130-140 carries...I'm more concerned about getting him more passes per game than I am carries

blazing. On sweeps and things, he's perfect. Out of the slot, he's perfect. When it comes down to 4-2 and the game's on the line, and we need somebody to bust up the gut to convert, he aint it. I love the guy, but he can't do that against SEC teams like he did against UAB last year and the year before.

Okay Sauron & Coach are touching the subject. It's my experience in football as a player, coach & fan you don't always throw on 3rd. If that's the case & let's say we're in good field position just got a HUGE turnover & as a coach the greatest time to hurt a team is to catch them RIGHT after a turnover. We're 1st & 10 from the our 45 in a 3 wide set-split back (which is in this situation in the past DEFINATELY going to be a running play). Tyler takes the snap in the face of a 4-3 defense whose corners are playing bump & run, safties coming down looking for run. OLB got the call for a field side blitz pre-snap. Tyler snaps it, fakes the dive & on his 3-4 step drop he looks @ the 1 on the go-not there, looks @ the 2 on a hard slant on the boundry side & sees he's almost past the zone. And never saw LP NEVER picked up the field side backer blitz! Boom!

I like LP, but he can NOT pass protect! He CAN be an every down back though. I believe he's built like Ray Rice (funny how thats why LP picked that number) was @ Rutgers. That guy was a BEAST in college! But Ray "stones" OLBs, Safties & CBs that blitz. LP doesn't end of story! Nick Griffin absolutely mows blitzers down in practices, is fast & is as strong as hell! He'll be THE guy! Ask Greg Knox!

I feel like if he is being coached properly that his pass blocking should improve year to year. He may have been horrible at it when he got here but that can be coached up cant it? You may not be able to coach speed, agility, durability, and vision but you should be able to coach his blocking to at least serviceable

Perkins is not an every down back. They are. It's pretty simple. Of course thereare the intangibles that play a factor. Robinson is a barry sanders type. Griffin is a anthony dixon type. Perkins is a less versatile Warrick Dunn.

I agree that Perkins is similar to Dunn. Maybe a step faster, but my memory of Dunn while at FSU is fuzzy and I typically don't follow the NFL...

He can have perfect form, and still get run over by a LB or DE because of his size...like I said, I think he should play more- but he still isnt a complete RB and needs to split time

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;" class="MsoNormal"><font face="Calibri">Ballard got the tough yards and then we brought in LP to
change things up. This past year with our O-line issues he wasn't as proficient,
and he had a few games where he fumbled the football. I assume he and Griffin
will share time at RB much like he and Ballard did in 10.'</font></p>
