Offense gets 2 points for a punt? If that were a rule last year we might have gone 9-3

They are missing the defensive scoring system for safeties. Maybe it's double the in-game total there (4 points) or something like that..

It nets -3 since the defense is awarded 5.

FGs are also strange. A made FG nets 0 bc both offense and defense are awarded 3. That has to be a typo or a brain fart. A missed FG nets -3 for offense since only defense is awarded 3 there. Which is better than going for it and not making since defense gets 7 for a 4th down stop.

if I understand Lebby correctly, the 1s and 2s will play as a unit. So I take it to mean there will be various matchups on difference series?

Probably an award for defense holding them to a FG. Net 0 for offense only getting a FG instead of TD and for defense giving up points. A tie if you will.

Here's a radical idea. Why not pit the #1 offense and #2 defense vs the #2 offense and #1 defense and just play football? Not that spring football games were ever anything much to begin with, but good Lord, they've just gotten ridiculously bad.
