I am reading that by April there will be millions of cases of Corona Virus in the US. Universities are shutting down classes left and right. I highly doubt there is going to be a public Spring game this year in Lincoln. That is sad since I had planned on coming to it this year for the first time in decades.

I suspect large universities will be largely empty in a couple of weeks time. If the NCAA tourney is played, I suspect it will be played in largely empty facilities.

Who knows what the future will hold, but smart money is on it being cancelled (at least for the public). I was supposed to leave for a conference in Washington DC this weekend and it has been cancelled, was planning on going to a concert in St. Louis in early April and it has been cancelled too.

I was slated to give a paper presentation at my former university in Allentown, PA. That has been canceled. This is only going to get worse. Don't want this thread to degenerate into another corona virus thread. I was just stating the obvious: probably ain't gonna be a Spring game this year. And maybe that is a good thing (except for recruiting)

I am a claim adjuster by trade and handle claims in dang near every state and work from home, and claims are way down because more people are staying home, IE-less exposure...as in if you don't leave your house, you can't cause a claim, and it's only a matter of time before the people who sign my checks are going to ask everyone to start using their PTO, in a very legal and friendly, but unmistakable, way.

Had the same thing happen. Had a conference in Orlando get cancelled in which we had a family trip to Disney booked. My ticket was $325 and rebooked my ticket personally for $159 as we are still going to go to Orlando. Right now is the time to buy plane tickets if you have a trip you'd like to take in 2-6 months.

I say don’t cancel the spring game. Just play it to an empty stadium on television. People act like the program doesn’t owe the fans, but it does. especially this program. This program is in serious debt to its fans for its support. Put it on BTN for us to watch, get us hyped. The football program needs some boost. It’s completely flat.

I’m always excited about Nebraska football. Watching them on Saturdays use to be the highlight of the week, now it’s been the low point of the week. The spring game is the only time we’ve had to really be optimistic of the program. It’s fun to watch.

No spring exposer to the program is bad for business

Nice. Im in underwriting. We've been pretty busy as of late but I'm afraid work is going to tell us to stay home in the coming weeks.

Fewer Claims means my insurance premiums should be going down. Win Win!

Or, they could say that “hey there is a virus going around. Stay home if you’re unsure about attending“. Especially for outdoor events. The risk would be very low. If you are in the group that is at risk, please stay home.

Maybe there can be a 5000 seat allotment for some family, friends and fans along with any recruits that might want to be there. Plenty of room for people to sit around the stadium without being cloistered together. Allow people to bring their own food and drink. Just a thought.

Im going to guess any gathering that would have more than 100 people is probably a pipe dream for the next few months. What happens if this drags out till fall and football season is canceled. China only had 80,000 infected and it shut them down for 2 months. If we have a million like some think (I am not one of them). We could have things shut down for 6 months or more.

The majority of deaths in the US were from one nursing home in Washington. If we just quarantined all elderly people for the next few weeks, this would blow over quickly.

We have people being tested here in Shawnee County, KS.

1 traveled from Seattle. What's with all the ones with the pioneer spirit during an outbreak?

I saw that as well. Meanwhile, 15 of us are going to the women’s gymnastics meet on Saturday night. Apparently that’s OK. Maybe that will be canceled by then as well though.

That is all well and good, but the thing that helps our recruiting isn't the Spring game as such, which is just a glorified scrimmage, but the fact that there are 80,000 people there. Absent those fans, it isn't much to see for a recruit, beyond a normal visit.

Yeah, but in the end, it’s up to Scott Frost and his staff to make a convincing appeal to those recruits and give them reason to go to Lincoln, and the mindset certainly should be ( and no doubt it is) recruit like there’s no one in the stands, sell your facilities and what your vision is and the rest will fall into place.

Besides, these recruits know they’ll be playing in front of thousands of people no matter where they go or what spring game audience had the least amount of fans to watch. If there are no fans allowed to witness, it’s not the end of the world, chances are that most schools would do likewise.

How’s things going these days for you Pennsy? Hope as well as can be!

Things are great. Just trying to keep from catching this stupid virus which is all around us now here in Northeast PA. I hate China. Everything bad starts in China. Well... and Iowa.

All this because of the flu?
I can tell you this much... the amount of money that is getting lost with Ticket Sales, Hotels, Flights, Concessions, Night Life ect... by doing this, it is definitely bigger than what we think. I said the same thing earlier today, but that type of money being lost tells me all I need to know!

Now there will be no spectators for the entire NCAA tournament. I guess we picked a good year for a rebuilding year. Feel sorry for fans of Rutgers and Penn State who will be playing in the tournament for the first time in forever.

No chance there will be a Spring Game, unless they decide to do a televised scrimmage without any fans.

Kid from Crofton tested positive for COVID-19 after attending the girls state tournament in Lincoln recently. He's in the biocontainment unit in Omaha now. There's rumors of more positive tests including a driver for a nursing home.

They shut our nursing home down today just as a precaution. Logical start. Those ar the people that need to be protected the most. May not help in the end but gotta try
