SPS Rewind: What is the season result for hoops that will keep you from complaining....

(Note: This is almost an exact replica of a poll I posted two years ago. Clickhere to see the results then.)

So hoops is nearing, and with it the annual 8-10 daily threads about the
team and the coach. So when it is all said and done in March, what
would it take for
you to be satisfied this year? Just post-season success? An 04 like
season with great regular season? Must have both???

I realize it's hard to answer this question because the end is always
bitter. For example, if we do make it through to the Sweet 16 as perhaps
a 3 seed,
and we end up playing a 7 seed instead of a 2 and we lose, of course we
are going to be disappointed and complain. Bue we're also going to
complain if we
are a 3 and lose to a 2 who ends up winning the national championship.
Heck, we are going to complain any time when we lose. That's part of
being a fan. I
complained in 95 when we lost to UCLA because we just didn't play our
best game. Every Bulldog fan I know complained about the Syracuse loss
in 1996. And
all the MSU boards almost melted down in 2004 when we lost to Xavier. We
even complained about losing to Duke in 05 and Memphis in 08 and
Washington in 2009.
But looking back, most all of those seasons were successful ones, though
some more than others.

*Add to mine some WTF suspensions of Sidney or a freshmens and some kind of dumpster fire incident like Hawaii. Even if Sidney is changed now, I think when the season wears down on him, he will resort to his old self.

I picked "Solid pre-conference, top five in SEC, and Sweet 16" because if the first two happen, then we should start with a good seeding in the tournament which should make it easier to get to the Sweet 16. With so many folks talking about our talent, I am expecting Stans to at a minimum keep us from screwing up in the pre-conference andhave the guys prepared to play well, and together, within the conference. If we see more of the same from a discipline standpoint and our guys lose some ridiculous games, then I will be disappointed. Sure, I'd be happier than in the pastif we made it to the Sweet 16 no matter the regular season standings, but I will still be complaining if the problem in the regular season is the same old **** that we see most years because it will be pretty clear that we will never elevate the program beyond where we have been in Stans' history.

Winninginspiteour problems as a team froma chemistry, discipline, and overall coaching standpoint is getting really old.

and say that our expectations are down when compared to two years ago.

Don't you all realize that there are 4 future NBA players on this team?

Doesn't seem like the Occupy Sixpack movement has reached it's goals...

.....at least get the terminology right. It's the Stansbury Six Pack, not Occupy Six Pack. The SSP is less organized and more conservative than Occupy.

I thought we were saying what our expectations were for this season. I expect us to make the Sweet 16. If he makes the tourney, he should never be fired and I would be fine with our season.

...not one of our players will sniff a 1st round pick, and thus assure a place in the association. The same idiots that say we have 4 NBA guys were saying that about Austin, Roberts, Zimmerman, Bowers, Gordon, Varnado, etc. How'd that turn out?<div>
</div><div>That said, we are still talented for a SEC team and the pressure is on Stansbury to make something of this team. The Sweet 16, or lack thereof, hangs over his head like an anvil. The better our season, the more slack he'll get in the tourney, but if past performance is any indication, we'll be scrambling to earn a bid come conference tourney time.</div>

I told every swingin dick on this site Jamont was not going to be an NBA player because he couldnt shoot. And I never even discussed NBA until the Jabba HD6 The Hut told us all that it was mandatory for you to have NBA draft picks on your team to make a Sweet 16.... <div>

...on this board, so I have no idea what you're talking about. You did post that we have 4 NBA players in a previous topic. I'm assuming you were being facetious, because if not, you are even dumber than I've previously assumed. But there ARE some idiots who really think we have future NBA guys on our team. The only way you could think that is if you knew next to nothing about the NBA or you were a complete idiot homer who bought a Varnado Heat jersey.

Some of us have lives outside of message boards (I know it's a shocker, but it's possible, well it's not possible for a douche like you, but never mind) and we get into actual conversations with live persons about Mississippi State athletics. I know this will be hard for you to understand, but I can't post a link to the MILLIONS of conversations I've had about MSU athletics that happened in real 17ing life.<div>

a lot all season long. It is impossible for me to watch a Stansbury-coached team play a game and not ***** at the television the entire game. My blood pressure sky rockets when we're on the court. Even when we blow someone out, I'll still be pissed. It's the ugliest division one basketball on earth.
