....are the Birds in 1st place to stay?

The rotation is stabilizing. Rosenthal is stabilizing. The offense is performing better. Wong is turning into a good player. Matt Holliday's second half upswing is in full force. Yadi's back.

Brewers have lost 7 straight. Pirates are even further back.

I'd like to think we're in first to stay, but a bad week by us and good week by MIL could all change that.

I saw a stat the other day. Best winning % for September in all of MLB since 2010. It's fate.

Those four loses in a row to end August had me concerned. Really concerned, but w/the Brew-Crew fading....I'm feeling somewhat better

As badly as I hate to admit it, the Central is over, but you are going to have to explain to me how Rosenthal is stabilizing.

Hope this last 10 game log chart pastes properly.... No ERs in his last 4. Only 3 BBs and 1 hit in those last 4 outings too.

The chart doesn't tell the story. Last night was save, but not stabilizing. 24 pitches, two walks. Deep fly ball to end it. What I see in that is two clean innings in his last 10 appearances, and a couple of times in there Matheny passed him over for Neshek.

Rosenthal and stability shouldn't be used in the same sentence. He is an accident waiting to happen. And only a homer would suggest that the rotation is stabilizing when the staff ace is a mess.

I'm not sure why anybody would think - at this point - that this team could score enough runs against a good pitching staff to win a seven game series.

You've already been taken to the woodshed on your rah rah assessment of Rosenthal, so we'll let that pass.

But besides being a shameless homer, what makes you think "the rotation is stabilizing"? Is it the way Wainwright has been pitching for the last 6 weeks? Is it Shelby Miller - a model of inconsistency? Is it Lackey's 2-2 record or his 4.87 era? Is it Wacha's 5 innings in the last 2+ months? As good as Lynn has been this year, I don't know many objective Cardinal fans that think that guy measures up with the aces from the Dodgers, Giants or Nationals.

Exactly what is so stable about the Cardinals rotation?
