I like this, I know its a ways away, but it is a new city, will help support Missouri, and maybe help tap into some mid-west recruiting grounds that are very fertile for basketball.

Makes great sense geographically. ** But, the biggest thing I got from that was the last statement that Tampa will host in 2018. Wow! Did they not see the attendance and failed numbers from the time Tampa hosted? Granted we won it there, but it was a failure in terms of everything else if memory serves me correctly.

I love the move... I just wish they'd get to the point where

they'd feel the same way about baseball. I'd love to see baseball rotate between several locations. There are several 10,000+ stadiums in the SEC footprint that are more than capable of hosting the tournament (Gwinnett, Memphis, B-ham, Nola... to name a few)

Tampa is stupid. St. Louis is ok just because its close to Kentucky and Mizzou. It will be we'll attended.

I agree that Missouri will draw a pretty good crowd I would think. It will be a nice breath of fresh air for the tourney too. And I agree....Tampa is a dumb move.

If St. Louis is going to host I would expect Houston to host one as well.

Many will laugh but Jackson needs to make a play for things like that. Persistence over time may get us in the door. If we want Jackson to ever get better we need to help bring dollars to the City. Sports-wise, these conference tournaments and bowl games are excellent opportunities. Why not Jackson? Why not Biloxi? It can be done. We have to remove the defeatist attitude.

Can't believe they let Tampa have another shot after the disaster the last time they played it there.

Two problems....

1) We don't have an adequate colliseum.
2*) The Confederate flag in the State flag prevents NCAA events from being held in Mississippi. But I don't know if the SEC Tournament counts as a NCAA event.

Truth. Where would it be in Mississippi? I can think of a few arenas that are great for high school playoff games and minor league hockey games but nothing that could ever do a quality job of hosting a major event.

Someone pointed out that CUSA had their baseball tournament in Pearl recently. I don't know if it's because the NCAA looks the other way for baseball (technically MSU should never be allowed to host but they don't say anything because MSU and Ole Miss do a fantastic job of making them money) or if it has anything to do with conference stuff.

Having it in St. Louis just makes it easier for Kentucky fans to make up 90% of the people in attendance like always. Tampa just makes it harder.

Keep up the great work! Mississippi will continue to wallow in misery until our own damn citizens demand we make it better. Fantastic attitude, DesotoCountyDawg.

Hell yeah, man.... All Jackson is lacking is..

a 250 million dollar arena and a few thousand more hotel rooms. A couple of interstates and an airport are already in place, so we're nearly there.

If by Jackson you mean Memphis, New Orleans or Houston.... then yes, Jackson needs to make a play for things like this.

You tell me where the arena is that's as good as the ones in Nashville, Tampa, St. Louis, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Memphis and I'm all for it.

I think this is a bad move.

I went to Tampa in 2009 when we won it. It was a terrible atmosphere. It was too far removed from SEC country for people to make the drive to go watch SEC basketball and I think St. Louis will be very similar. Tampa and St. Louis have almost the same population base with Tampa having about 30,000 more residents, so I'm not sure I can say a bunch of locals would be interested in going to watch SEC basketball.

It's a 5 hour drive from Lexington to St. Louis, and 7 hours from Knoxville to St. Louis. UK and UT are by far the two most well traveled fan bases for the tournament and I think keeping the tournament in Atlanta always the most fans from both of those fan bases to go. It's all money, and if the SEC wants to make the most amount of money, they should keep the tournament in Atlanta.
