How long before the 30-mile radius talk from "One Town, One Team?"
I'll start.

They need to change it to a population density. For example: Mt. Carmel & Naz, etc. might only end up with a one mile radius due to population density. More rural privates like JCA would remain closer to what they are now.

This score shocks me!
It doesn't shock me. I poste earlier this week that I thought west suburban schools like Batavia and Downers were soft -- and they are. Once they face adversity, they pretty much fold. We had Batavia 14 - 0 in last year's &A championship before they had a single play from scrimmage. DGN was a pushover the year before.

BTW, at least a third of Mt Carmel's "30 mile radius" is underwater.

Really? You feel the need to call those schools soft? You don’t think those very successful schools can face adversity? I thought you had a better head on your shoulders than that. Just take your win and move on. I’m sure you massive talent discrepancy had nothing to do with these one sided games. It’s all toughness and coaching.

And the other two thirds has a population of 3 million.

MC63 with easily the most misguided, uneducated take of the day. And it’s in a day full of really bad takes, so someone get that man a cheeseburger or some kind of prize

How anyone could watch 2024 MC-Batavia or 2025 SR-Batavia and note the toughness or intangibles of the winning squad over Batavia before citing “hey, this team is just physically superior to the losing team” either isn’t watching or just wants to offer a really bad take they know to be disingenuous.

this isn’t a public/private thing either. It would be like me watching the first half of Laurence vs ESL today and saying “well, those Burbank kids are just soft and they wilted as soon as they were down 9 a few minutes in.” Maybe, just maybe ESL was that much better than SL and the only way the Vikings stay within a few scores is if just about everything bounces their way.

soft west suburban kids. That’s just rich

And i am fully on board stomping on Batavia. Them petitioning up to 7A to avoid ESL deserves to have been beaten. But Rita beats Batavia 95 times out of 100 not because they’re tougher, but just because they’re better.

Simple fix to the private vs public schools issue is to move all private schools (and ESL) 5A and up, to 8A. Public schools are only eligible for 1A-7A. Classes 1A-7A would be set based on enrollment, like it is now. If needed, The 8A playoffs could shrink from 32 to 16.

Agree with all your points except you thinking MC63 has a good head on his shoulders. His post in this thread is consistent with the typical misguided drivel that he posts. Consider the source.

If Naz would have pulled it out, then all of RIta's 4 losses would be in title games from 5A to 8A. I would say SR had a tough schedule this year.

Is Owen Lynch OK? Heard he got stepped on unnecessarily
I think so. He was on the ground for a bit while Rita coaching staff was berating the officials. He was helped off the field and a few feet before he got to the bench, he started walking on both feet.

Chaka knows more, so I am assuming he'll be ready to go. It was a great interception and return by Owen.

I also noticed Junior #8 Fennel (back up QB and great on defense) wasn't in the game. I hope he's ready to go against BR.

Completely different Rita team this time around.

I knew Rita would be a tough out in the playoffs, but that turnaround by Hopkins and staff makes him worthy of COY. It’s like they played two separate seasons.

Congratulations Mustangs! Should be a great game on Saturday.
Great stuff, CP. You always have been complimentary. BR has been the team to beat since Week 1. I've been so caught with this rollercoaster of a season that I haven't on BR at all.

And they have proved without a doubt how good they are. I hope this game against BR is similar to '22 in which MC destroyed SR in the regular season. Later in the season in the semifinals, Rita had a Q4 lead and a good chance to win.

Naz was a 2 pt conversion away from clocking Rita. Rita has been on a roll ever since, it’s great to see.
Were you at the Rita/Naz game? I have no idea what happened to the Mustangs in that game--same type of game last year as well in Chicago.

Naz just has Rita's number last couple of years.
