just ask Polk. For them to return to the mediocrity of the 70's and 80's would be great....not necessarily great for the SEC but I can't help but love it when the giant falls.

Rivals Radio this morning said the same.

Except for Spurs part. They said this was what the acronym meant.

UPDATE: Not much new on Friday, according to Buddy Martin of ESPN affiliate GatorCountry.com, but Martin does break down a few names into an A list and a B list. Bob Stoops and Chris Petersen are on the A list, with Bobby Petrino, Dan Mullen and Charlie Strong on the B list. Randy Edsall is also in the picture, but Martin is unclear if he's on the A list or the B list.

Martin also says he's heard nothing about Jim Harbaugh, Kyle Whittingham or Chip Kelly.

The folks at GatorCountry.com say that they are hearing that athletic director Jeremy Foley plans to finish the process by no later than the end of next week, if not a few days earlier. Remember that Foley had an inkling that Meyer would be leaving last Saturday, so despite his statements to the contrary, it's highly likely he had already made preliminary calls and winnowed down his list by Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Tom Dienhart of Yahoo! Sports tweets: "The more people I talk to, the more I think Florida won't hire anyone with connections to Urban Meyer." Interesting. That would eliminate three strong candidates: former Meyer assistants Dan Mullen (Mississippi State), Kyle Whittingham (Utah) and Charlie Strong (Louisville).

Those two items would appear to back this potentially big news from GatorCountry at 9:51 p.m. on Thursday night: More than one source tells the site that Boise State's Chris Petersen could be the Gators coach by Wednesday. If this happens, it would appear to be a home-run hire, but don't overlook the lack of success of Boise's two previous coaches (Dirk Koetter and Dan Hawkins).
