Anyone ever thought what the chances would be of putting a corporate name on our stadium/field?

I was reading Byrne's bio in the football program that he was involved in getting a corporate donor (Reser Foods) to chunk up 12.5 million to put their name on Oregon State's stadium. AT&T put up 20 mill to put their have their name on Texas Tech's. Louisville plays in Papa Johns Stadium and Syracuse the Carrier Dome.

No offense to Don M. Scott, but I think I could live with watching games at DWS @ Bancorp South/Cellular South/State Farm Insurance Field. I guess the biggest question would be could find a sponsor willing to put up that kinda cheese

Not at this time, there is no value in the product we put on the field.

Hell, when is the last time we sold out a game w/ a predominately MSU crowd (as in 45 to 48,000 MSU fans)?

Ever hear of a guy name Davis Wade? We've also sold naming rights to Dement Stadium. The only one we haven't sold is the Hump.

is for renaming a stadium. My guess is that there isn't any protocol. Somebody just coughs up so much money that at some point the University says "Damn, Mr. Wade, we appreciate your gift. But, ****, you know."

It seems like someone who gives that kind of money would put extensive contractual protections in place, like the University would have to give the money back or something. But, I guess there also has to be someone around to enforce the contract.
Interesting thought to contemplate.

By the way: DWS stadium at Sara Lee field. Screw Sara Lee -- they are an abomination to the Bryan name.

of ever naming something in perpetuity. I mean, you sell the stadium name for $5 million. 20 years later, somebody wants to buy it for $150,000,000.....I mean, what do you do? Surely there is some contractual mechanism for dealing with something like that.

And I believe it was something like 6-8 million to name it Davis Wade Stadium. That seems pretty damn cheap these days. And it hasn't been that long ago.

But I don't see what we can do about it now. Thanks once again to the shortsighted Larry Templeton.
