Don't know if anyone noticed, but Davis-Wade was moving a good 4" each way after the 1st int. by Banks. I thought maybe I had consumed a few to many beverages, but when I saw my drink, that was sitting in the cup-holder in club level, was starting to spill from side to side due to the swaying.

That stadium has never been at that capacity. I'm not a structural engineer, but that old place was swaying more than I liked.

Reinforced concrete is supposed to sway. The tops of skyscrapers sway back and forth like pine trees in the wind. I got this all from an MSU Civil Engineering Professor who was sitting right next to me when the stadium started to sway. He was not scared at all, so that made me feel better.

The first game they had the upper deck opened w/ the cat walks on the side of the stadiums. Apparently all the people walking down at once after the game caused the stadium to sway a good bit that day. The school added in the "X" shaped structures the next week for added stability, hasn't been much of a problem since.

we just had one of the most unbelievable plays in school history and I'm fixing to be on CNN crushed under a bunch of rubble in the worst catastrophe since Katrina. And we were only at the half.

Leaving the game, I heard all of the following from MSU fans:

"That has to be the most exciting play in MSU history"
"I bet that's the record for the longest pick-6 at MSU"

Call me crazy, but the one against Bama was better, maybe because we won. And our season wasn't already lost. And it seemed louder- however, I was in the student section then, and the old polks section this time.

Before the ball was snapped on Banks' 100 yard pick 6, I was thinking exactly that. I was thinking, oh man we need to pull an Anthony Johnson right here, and....BAM!!!

Banks play would have been more memorable had we won with UF being #1 and all. It would have been 1980 all over again.

Although it was incredibly loud during Bank's pick 6 I think it may have been louder at the Bama game, lets hope Banks doesn't have any of AJ's other tendencies.</p>

We must have been sitting close. I saw that professor and asked him the same thing. That dude is pretty cool for a civil engineering professor by the way.
He told me and my kids that it was totally safe. Something about the pillars being built to handle a much bigger load than is specified. Like you said, it is either sway or break.
You ever been to the top of the Sears Tower? That sucker sways about 5 feet!

anthony johnsons pick 6 was loud but there was no way in hell it was louder thanks banks. This was a night game against the number one team in the country and we were a good bit over capacity and it showed. The student section was also crazier which i didnt think was possible

I was in the Dome for the Saints-Falcons MNF game (1st Dome game after Katrina). I have never felt a building shake or heard anything as loud as when the Saints blocked the Falcons first punt and recovered for a TD. I thought the roof was going to collapse. The loudest moment I ever recall in the games I have been to at state was either 99 UM when we intercepted the kicked ball or 2000 against UF when we went up 24-21 (i think that was the score).

I was at that game, and I was on those ramps. I just knew we were all going to die........that's as scared as I can ever remember being off the ground.

They were trying to teach us that even though something may be designed to handle the loads, one must consider the occupant's comfort. Those sides were in no danger of collapsing, but when someone is up there it sure feels like it.

Apparently a bunch of people noticed the stadium moving for the first time on that pick as well. I've never noticed it before, too busy causing the swaying to notice the swaying I guess.

the Florida game this past weekend, I think I can tell you that I have NEVER heard a louder crowd than the Int by Johnson vs Alabama. My ears rang for 2 days afterwards. And the East Stands didn't sway, they shook and traveled up and down like the old seating at Tulane Stadium when the Saints played there. It was a little disconcerting....but DAMN it was fun.
