I don't post much, but this has pissed me off for so long now that I felt like bringing it up.<div>
</div><div>Stans biggest problem is he is still coaching like its the 90's! He can not relate to today's athletes, which in turn means the player don't respect. One example was at the beginning of the year when he told the media that "you think I write that stuff on my twitter account". Like it or not, today's athlete is all about Twitter and that is just one of the ways to relate to today's player. We have to find a coach that can relate to these players on a personal level. We are never going to find a stoic coach like Coach K and Izzo that everyone automatically respects because they have won so much. Like him or not, Coach Cal is huge on twitter and has the respect of everyone of his players. If one of his players screws up, he pulls them out of the game and chews their butt. When was the last time Stans chews anybody butt on the sidelines. He is a mentor to these players during college and after. Why do you think all of his former players come back for UK basketball games.</div><div>
</div><div>Lastly, where is the coaching?????? We run zero offense, we only play man to man (except against the biggest possesion of the year against UK and Miller had been broke the zone two previous times before). What happened to the 1-3-1 half court trap that was a staple of the 2002 team! What about calling a timeout when the other team goes on a 7-0 run.</div><div>
</div><div>I really hope we can turn things around and I truly believe that if we beat USC and Arky and then get to Saturday in the SECT that we will be dancing, but in order for that to happen Stans has to change his coaching style!</div>

I wasn't implying that Twitter was the key to success. It was just one example of how out of touch Stans is with today's athlete. He is stuck in the 90's. There is a famous quote that says "Adapt or Die". In any industry you have to adapt to today's society and technology and this even applies in coaching! I think you missed the point.

Stans coaches like he coaches and that's the only way he knows how to coach. He doesn't know much about the game and it's painfully obvious. He can't change what he's doing. He never makes adjustments. Hell, he doesn't even talk during timeouts. I love it when they show the other coach and he's walking up and down screaming onto the court. Then they pan over to Stans and he is just sitting motionless on the bench, not saying a word. Then after the other coach calls a timeout and our entire team slowlywalks over to our bench, he still doesn't talk. That's another thing. Any team that has the respect of their coach, jogs to the bench after a timeout.

His lack of respect has nothing to do with twitter. It's his personality. And it's the fact that he's a ***** pushover who lets his players do what they want

If Stans chewed someone out, they would quit for the rest of the game, because it never happens and they wouldn't know how to handle it. It's too late to change now.

You ask where the coaching has gone. Well he is coaching the exact same way this season as he has coached his entire career but no one would listen to me when I tried to tell them how horrible he was. If he makes the sweet 16, it will be by coaching the exact same way.

I have no idea what happened to the 1-3-1 defense. I have wondered that for a while now.

There's no answer or reason or excuse for the lack of timeouts. It's truly mind-boggling. Did you notice during the KY game how quick Cal would call one. Killed our momentum everytime. Rick doesn't call them, because if he does, he has to think of something to talk about to his team. You would think a guy who can't get his most talented player in shape would use his timeouts to give his thin team a rest. We are as thin as we've ever been and we can't make it through a whole game without getting a lot morewinded than the other team, and we save 3 or 4 timeouts a half. I mean, what can you say to that? What is the reasoning there? WTF?

None of this has anything to do with twitter. He's too stupid for twitter anyway.
