</a><a title="nationofblue" href="http://www.nationofblue.com/f2/rick-stansbury-takes-shot-twany-beckham-15167/">nationofblue

- Here is the copy/paste.

When asked about Twany Beckham earlier today, Rick Stansbury had some scathing comments for the Mississippi State transfer.

“I saw his stats the other day in SEC play. Did he make one or attempt one shot?”

A harsh remark from Beckham's former coach, no doubt, but Stansbury did
not stop there. “He’s seeing some pretty good basketball. He’s getting a
front-row ticket every night. Yes, sir.”

It's fairly evident that Stansbury was none-too-pleased about Beckham's
decision to transfer last year, but these sorts of remarks about a
former player seem completely inappropriate.

Beckham may not have the opportunity to retaliate for these remarks on
Tuesday, but Stansbury better hope that his comments don't ignite a fire
under the transfer's current teammates.
Also somewhere else I saw that Rick was asked about Beckham a bunch so maybe he got annoyed.. not sure.

to bring it to that level. The past week and 2 days have been horrible for our basketball program and Stans has the gall to say **** about Tranny.

Can't imagine how that can be taken any other way besides smart ***. Especially the front row seat part. Not typical Stansbury.

Why say anything that could be taken negatively? If you are asked about him, you give some standard, "we enjoyed his time here but he wanted to go closer to home" line. But, I think Mr. Rick is so insecure, he had to point out that not only did this player he recruited suck at State, but since he WALKED ON at UK, he has sucked there. Again, what's the purpose?

If I was Twany, I would just say I was tired of playing for the underdog.</p>

from the Louisville Courier-Journal. OF COURSE they lead off with the "call me" incident to get the mouth-breathers all riled up, and then they buried this on the second page:
it could also be interpreted as a nod to just how talented the Wildcats are this season. Because other than that remark, Stansbury spent most of his two interactions with the media Monday heaping praise on UK.
<span style="color: rgb(44, 44, 44); font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; text-align: left; "></span>by which time I'm sure most UK fans were tired of reading it and went back to "friending" high profile recruits' families on Facebook.<div>
</div><div>But seriously Rick, why even go there. I'm interested to know what the full "context" could have possibly been,.</div>

Rick please don't show up tomorrow night. I believe the players will actually play a better game without your presence and have a shot at winning. It's already going to be a tough game, there is no need to fire up the UK team.

<div>
</div><div>I mean it was very unprofessional of Stansbury to say anything about a specific player on the opposing team. However, what jackass for a beat writer would run with something that is "understood" as an "off the record" conversation? With the beat writers we have these days, it really is a toss between Marshmellow and Locke with a Glock. And it's not like Stans lied about him. Twany hasn't scored a single point the entire season. Even a kid equivalent to our worst walk on has 1 point. He averages just under 3 minutes a game. So, he does have front row seats every night. However, Stans should not have said even mentioned him. It seems like the beat writers asked about Twany got something controversial and ran with it. I don't understand why beat writers turn their back on players and coaches when they have to interview the same person everyday for the next week, month, and year. </div>

Questioning whether or not he was even on scholarship when Stans comes in. They ask him about Twany and he says what he says before the actual start of the press conference. Firstly what Stans says is accurate. Twany hasn't scored a point this season and he does have a front row seat to watch the best college basketball team in the SEC and the country for that matter. If he was meaning to dog Twany, he could've made it much worse.

I can't remember coach ever publicly saying anything negative about a player that has transferred before and there are plenty of them out there that he could've made bad comments about. I think Twany left on good terms w no ill will whatsoever. Didn't we release him so he could transfer to UK without any fight or worry?

Coach shouldnt have made these comments but these should have never been printed to begin with. He didn't lie and he didnt say anything that isn't accurate. If uk fans want to make this their fuse for this ame, so be it.

Twitter is horrible for college sports. I can see a day where presidents or even the SEC rules that coaches and players can't have social media accounts.

Twany never should have been on our team to begin with. A complete waste of a scholarship. He was one of the worst non-walkon players that I can ever remember at MSU. A nice kid but I would rather play Bostall 40 minutes than suffer throught 5 minutes of Twany at the point.

I think the stress of the past few weeks is getting to him as that seems so out of character for him. In Sunday school somebody was relating a story of something he did for a family here in Starkville. Right before Christmas their 6 year old daughter was riding a go cart and made a turn onto a side street and did not see a parked car on the shoulder. She ran the go cart under the car and she was killed instantly. Rick somehow found out about it while on a road trip with the team and called them to offer condolences. He also sent them what was reportedly a very sizeable check to help cover her expenses and has since called them every day to see how they are doing. This is a family he didn’t know from a man on the moon but still did this. From a character standpoint you can’t ask for a better person to be affiliated with your program. I just don’t know about his coaching ability. You just hate to see people like this lose their job.

We all know he is an angel with a great wife and kids that can't stay out of the way, but if you can't preform your job satisfactory then you get fired. That's just life, he is getting paid over a million dollars for this ****** product he puts on the floor. Any of us would be fired from our job if we underperformed like he has, nice guy or not..

They are quite possibly worse than Alabama football. At least Saban has two national championships to stem the tide (no pun intended) of his too obsessed fanbase. These people are just pathetic. I love MSU sports and have spent more than my fair share of time and money going to see them play, and have probably made some questionable decisions to do just that, but I also have the ability to see the line where sports as entertainment ends and unhealthy obsession begins. Most of these people do not, and their pride about it is unsettling.

..a washed-up coach who embraces a sense of entitlement because he has been allowed to hang around too long begins to act like an idiot & embarrasses the university in the process.

We went through this crap with Polk: Loses control of squad, big mouth comes into play, temper tantrums, irrational demands, unhinged behavior = blight on the university.

I'm to the point where I can't wait for Stansbury to lose his first round NIT game so MSU can finally get rid of his ridiculous ***.
