I don't want to look it up, but I can't remember the last time that 3 of the top 4 teams in the SEC were in the West, and I'll bet that balance had leaned East much more often than West since the divisional split.

Granted the East has been better than the West but over the years but looking at the standings over the years the difference is not as stark as most think.

I think if the league changes it, then the football should have the highest ranked teams playing for the championship too. Who is to say it will not flip in the future and after Calipari puts Kentucky on extended probation, then the west will have better teams.
