Why can Dan Mullen say this about players but Stansbury can't? I know what I think about assumptions by completely oblivious people. There has been nothing said other than personal reasons for why Shawn wasn't with the team. Nothing about Stans suspending him, nothing about Stans not wanting him, nothing about Stans or Long having problems. Maybe, just maybe Shawn has things going on that we need to just let him work out. From all accounts I've seen or read about him, he is a funny guy that all the other players liked and he seemed to have a pretty good trip in Europe earlier too. I hope he gets whatever issues he has resolved and can find another team to play on. If he happens to go the juco route, I hope we watch his progress and if he's available in 2 years and worthy of a scholly, he may be back. Good luck to you "Bug", which I also think is a nickname he uses. Now we have for certain4 scholly's open for next season. Moultrie gone will make 5. We have 5 committments and ONE BIG one still to get in Pollard.
I'm with you. If that's what he's really leaving for, then good for him, and I hope it works out well for him.
I never knew why we signed him to begin with, he is tall, but he was not that great of a player in High School...

Shawn had a child at home and did not adapt well to college life. He had trouble putting fourth the effort it takes to play college basketball at this level. I would compare him to Walter Sharpe.

I wouldn't say he was a thug, but has some of the same problems Sharpe had. Being late, respect for coach, and team.
IMO he was a late pickup that we took a risk on and didn't work out.
They are putting a lot of stock in Gavin Ware. He is very impressive in person and will play as a freshman.

On another note, has anyone figured out what is causing teens and college kids to have kids? It seems like an epidemic. As a father of 3, I myself would like to know since I don't need anymore kids myself at my age. Speaking of Shawn Smith, how is the hip doing? As much as I hate to say it, if he can't play much this season, I think he will be the other person losing his spot to make room for Pollard. It's been an issue now his whole time at MSU and I hate that because I think he could be a productive player for us.

Every team has players leave, transfer, etc. We have an awesome team in case anyone hasnt noticed. I swear some people on here are on the rag 24/7.
