Guess he has more space now to operate his bulldozer, I hear he loves

riding on his dozer.

Stans probably has some concrete shoes he could borrow....

...especially since Sidney doesn't need them anymore....

I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to lease a lake, but in skimming the article it seems the lake was closed and needed a lessor (but I did not read it in depth). Maybe Stans is just being altruistic so the lake can reopen as a rec area.

RocketDawg,

tl;dr: The lake has been closed since March. The State Fish and Wildlife service had been leasing it for $2500/year, and as the lease was expiring the county had it reappraised and the price was going up slightly** to around $41,000/year. FWS basically said 17-off, and they've been looking for a sucker...I mean investor to lease it since.

The Stansbury group has finally reached a lease agreement. The lease requires the lake and campgrounds to be available for public use. How they intend to recoup their investment remains to be seen.

seems like "owning" a lake would be a ***** to insure, especially if you have to provide public access. With the broad knowledge of this board I'm sure someone will correct me as to how insurance on something like this or a gymnastics gym or Space Jump type place can actually not be crazy to insure.

I'm guessing there is some altruism behind this "investment" or that he wants to use part of the land for personal use. The lease is $2600 a month basically. Seems like you could put up some RV hookups and set up some camping spots to rent by the night to recoup some of the money, but doesn't seem like a lot of room for profit. For a 25 year lease, though, you could probably put a bunch of trailer pads out there on the area away from the lake and do pretty well with a trailer park.

There are 450 acres he can develop 6 miles from campus on the North side of the lake. I hope he does well.
Most of the South side of the lake looks like an Arkansas trailer park.
