Stansbury: Please Stay in the Coaches Box

First off, I'm not a Stans basher. I like the guy and want him to remain our coach. However, this whole staying outside the coaches box has gotten way out of hand. He spends at least 85% to 90% of the game outside the coaches box. Not just a foot or two out of the coaches box, but most times about 10 feet outside of it. I have seen several instances this year where he literally affected the play due to his position on the court. It has to be distracting to the players as well.
Most trips down the court, the refs either warn him or push him back into the box.
I don't know how Kirby can be coaching any when he spends most of his time dragging him back into the box. He's always done this, however, it has gotten progressively worse and now is totally out of hand.
As a State fan, I find this embarassing. How are the players supposed to follow rules when their coach can't. Don't give me any of this, "He's just really into the game crap." He can be just as much into the game in the coaches box.
Also, "Everyone else does it" won't work either. I watch all of our games and numerous games a week on T.V. and I've never seen anyone come close to Stans in blatantly abusing the rule. Also if anyone doesn't think that maybe, just maybe, the refs might be remembering this during a close call, then you have more faith in the refs than I do.

If I'm Byrne, I put a stop to it now.

Also a Stans fan, but everyone knows that Rick is a family guy. I don't need to see his kids every time the team takes the floor. It is also about time to reign Meo in just a little bit.

You would think that Stans has figured it out by now. Its almost like he tries to do so to blatantly piss of the refs. From my observations, Stans is not the most liked coach in the eyes of sec refs. As for Rick's kids, Im tired of them being on the court with the team. It just does not look professional and am I the only one who seems to think they have not grown in 5 years?</p>

Outfit with 400lb line; tie line to belt and pants loops; give Rick enough room to run around and act crazy like he wants to, then reel his *** in when the opposing players are running down the court and he is about to get T'eed up for tackling them

the whole damn clan needs to go

I mean... seriously?

the kids thing? who gives a 17? and Meo? i like the fact that we have enthusiastic fans

as for Stans being out of the box? rules are rules, and if it ever gets to a point where it gives the other team some foul shots or a possesion or whatever the penalty is, i'll be on here bashing him for it, but until then, you guys just sound like a bunch sore losers pissed that we lost last night. get over it, time to move on to the next game

it's coaches wifes acting like attention whores.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I can't recall any football coaches wifes acting like complete morons during the game.

I understand that it's your husband, but that still doesn't mean that you run around like an idiot. Just stand and cheer like everyone else.

This year it seems like Meo has taken it to a new low.

Has absolutely nothing to do with losing the game. Has everything to do with Rick making a fool of himself every game with this nonsense. I'm only speaking to the coaches box issue. If you don''t think this is being used against us by the refs, you're naive at best. I would not be commenting on this unless it was completely out of control. And it is.

I agree he has no respect for that rule whatsoever... but if you honestly think it is costing us games, then by comparison, Bob Knight would've never, and I mean NEVER won a game. Refs would've probably held secret meetings just to discuss new and creative ways to screw him over at every possible opportunity.

...i just don't think it is quite that big of a deal.

That's because football games are played in big stadiums and coaches wives aren't as easy to locate.

It doesn't matter what sport or what level - coaches' wives are emotionally attached to their husband's careers. Some react differently. Leave it to some internet geek to question a spouse's loyalty to her husband.

He can handle the task.

Additionally, since it seems to be an issue for some, can you recruit some good replacement "Meo's" with some of your South Florida acquaintances. It would appear that many on here would be grateful......

Who gives a **** if his kids are on the floor with him. They are like 10 years old, let them run around and do whatever the hell they want to do. As long as they don't effect the game or the bench (which they don't), then who cares what they do. Let them be kids and they will be "too cool" in a few years once they grow out of it.

I just think to bring the kids into the situation is completely un-called for.

As for Meo, I bet she can give mean mean head.

First time I noticed Meo was at one of the SEC tournaments in Memphis years ago. What is remember is State leading Vandy most of the game. In the 2nd half, Vandy goes on a run. Their fans start getting loud. The game is tied or within a few points. Meo and one other young lady are the only two people, of the 100 or so State fans there, that was standing up, shouting, and clapping. It was a critical point in the game and you could tell the team needed a lift. However, the rest of the State section was sitting there quiet, arm crossed, and waiting for the loss. Which eventually happened. I thought to myself that day. That lady doesn't fit in with this fan base.

I am glad she and Rick have stuck around and tolerated it.

which is while it's OK to stand up and cheer, it's not OK to run around the Hump like a moron to draw attention to yourself- especially when you know that you're going to be on TV.

And for the record, I don't like it when ANY coaches wives act this way.

finding the QB's parents, girlfriend and sister, however.

Plus, I imagine that most of their wives sit in a luxury suite, so that shouldn't be that hard to find.

that Croom's wife never went to the games. Which I have heard from a lot of people.

I've never heard that before, and that really surprises me.

That's pretty appalling that she wouldn't show up.

I guess that goes back to the "Bama is better" complex that Croom had, though.

Maybe she would have shown up after year seven.

You wouldn't want to be a ref, Gary Ervin, big feces (haven't seen that mentioned here in a while), or a crooked pinky Damp. if I were the coach.

Yeah, I'd probably need Kirby pulling her back.
