I think he would turn them into one of the most talented teams in the SEC. No sure beyond that.

Auburn is looking at an MSU type rebuild if some dominos fall.

Three of the starters are seniors - Denson, Payne and Dixon-Tatum. That's the leading scorer in the conference, and the three top rebounders on the team. Like many programs, Barbee has had attrition. I could totally see KT Harrell giving up his last year to head overeas or to the D League, and Tahj Shamsid Deen leaving for a better program. There's no real rumor of them leaving, but it would be no surprise to me whatsoever to see it happen. If it does, Auburn would have no one returning who averaged more than three ppg. That's the problem for Barbee right now - he has no chance of being better next year, and the last two years have been terrible.

Did you not read the thread to see why that won't happen? Because Auburn won't let him buy players like he did at State. Duh.

Interesting...

I guess they are too good for Stansbury?

The bidding war for Pearl seems that it's about to be insane. At least among the fanbases anyway...

True. Since it's only for a few years, it's considered a lease.

ugh. Fine. Technically you're correct.

Pearl brings a lot of baggage and potential headaches but the chances of staying irrelevant are very minimum. He's very good at what he does.

There's a slight rumor that Auburn might look at USM's coach.
He was offered $1.3m by Texas Tech. Turned it down. Buddy of mine has credentials there and said Tyndall is only interested in going somewhere he can win, that it's not about the money one bit. Take that for what it's worth. I realize everybody would like them to think "it's not about the money."

I found some of their responses to be hillarious

-Especially this one

"Rick Stansbury = Houston Nutt"

-this one

"Must have been paid in (2) installments.
Mario Austin was $100,00 ($50,000 to Austin and $50,000 to Kenny Harris).

If Lewis cost that much. Imagine what Sidney, Zimmerman, and Roberts cost. And Moultrie wasn't free. He left UTEP for AU and somehow ended up in Starkville."

-and this one

"Having our players fist fighting in the stands at a tournament might be exciting though. That and seeing the look on our compliance people's face when Stans brings in a Renardo Sidney type could be comical."

-And the cherry on top

"Bingo. Nobody at AU is gonna shell out $80,000 for the Wendall Lewis' of the world."

That poster(s) who claimed Lewis cost $80K is hilarious. $80K for a spring signee long term development player?
Ha ha!

I still think that Pearl is at the top of Jurich's B list if Pitino hangs it up after this year.

Which is exactly how we ended up with Ray. He was not sitting atop the list to start the process with.

But I don't think Tyndall can win long-term at USM that big either so if I were him I'd try to strike while his stock is high

They don't buy football players either.

I lived in Auburn for five years, until July, 2011, so was there during the $cam thing. Used to hang out at Touchdown's (I understand it is now out of business) listening to some of the local older guys. Even met "Stump" Thrower a few months before he died. Lots of people always talking about the "creed", laughing and talking about taking care of the "family, etc". Nothing specific, but did not leave much to imagination. At least when I was there Pat Dye was still king of many things....
