If Rick leaves, it's most likely because of money, not critical fans. If the man leaves because a section of the fanbase doesn't like him, then we don't need a big ***** like that leading our program.

Oh, and there will be plenty of unhappy Clemson fans and critics if he's hired.

Guess I need a new detector. Can anyone tell me where to get one? Probably the same place I can get a MSU ringtone.

then good riddance. <div>
</div><div>I'm a littledisappointedif he is truly gone, but not if this is the reason. Only a loser would leave a school because fans don't support him. If he can't stand the "heat" in Starkville, I can only imagine how short his tenure will last in the ACC. </div><div>
</div><div>There is no way he is leaving because of "ungrateful fans." I'm not buying it.</div>

He is leaving because he is sick and tired of being treated like a step child and Slive has made it clear that he considers us #12 in this league. Probably if the truth be known, why Byrne bolted too. Now we shall see the cluster17 that will follow with no AD and folks who are clueless again like LT. Keenum would like to try and match Clemson's offer but Rick is not going to do that. I am sick because we lost a good one but now the folks who chimed in with the fools on this board who themseves know nothing about recruiting, coaching, or anything other than bitching on a message baord can rejoice and look forward to years of misery because no new cpoach will come in here and recuit like this group has done.

Yeah we have delusional fans but that is at every school. Even the small ones. As soon as those fans watch one game of standing still, starin at each other, jackin threes and not listening to a word during time outs, they'll be on his *** too. I didn't want the guy to leave necessarilly, I just wanted him to learn to not suck so bad.

Yes I am not the real Russell Walters--never claimed to be.

I do think it's the fans and yes going to Clemson WILL in fact fix that, for a short time. Because there's always a renewal of faith for a new coach.

I don't blame him one bit for leaving if he in fact does leave.

I've always thought that Southern Miss has the most delusional fan base in the country, but the more I read on here, the more I believe that my own friends and family are the most delusional of all- STATE fans.

That being said, HAIL STATE! I'm behind whoever we have on our bench, even though we will be taking a step down. NOBODY else can recruit to Starkville the talent level that RS did. I know we all love Starkville, but unless you went to school there you probably don't care much for it. We have recruited players from New York, Miami etc....you tell me how many kids want to leave those place to come live in the middle of nowhere...wait for it I'll tell you...ABSOLUTELY NONE.

Yet somehow Rick was able to do it time after time.

But yeah, we don't need him, we have the best program/ facilities in the country. We'll go hire a big name...

Hey maybe Lebron James would retire and be our coach, Larry Bird is available too...

Stans may just want a change of scenery. many of us have changed jobs for the same reason. Sometimes it works out well, sometimes it doesn't.

Maybe he's looking for a bigger challenge. Recruiting against Duke, NC, Maryland, Ga. Tech, etc. will be "a little harder" than recruiting against the SEC brethren.

As for the expectations of the fanbase....Purnell didn't leave Clemson because he liked the drab color of Chicago, the long cold winters, and the glory that is Depaul basketball.</p>

average Joe's then 17 him. He is a ginourmous pusscake, but I don't think that is the reason at all. Maybe he wants to coach in a better conference, maybe he's not going to land anhy of the 2011 class, or maybe he just wants a change of scenery regardless it is not official so he is still the HC in Vegas.
