they sold gas for 3.47 yesterday and it's 3.99 this morning. Who franchises those stores? Sanders Oil? The other retail outlets were anywhere from 3.51 to 3.69.

I understand that wholesale prices went up dramatically yesterday but the B-Quiks are gouging nonetheless. They could've waited until they dumped to raise their prices. They're trying to take advantage of the game tomorrow. Buy gas before you get here. As a matter of fact, don't buy anything from those mfers.

The texaco on Old W.P. was 3.47 this morning. I filled up just before they changed it. Don't know what they were changing it to.

A station that was selling gas yesterday for $3.65 is now $4.39. Refineries must be shut down in H-town.

how as soon as the **** hits the fan in the gulf coast, these places jack up their prices as fast as humanly possible. But then when everything's fixed and back in production, we have to wait a couple weeks for prices to come down so they can get rid of their current stock.

I'm glad I filled up at 6:30 this morning on the way to work for $3.65. The same gas station is now at $4.40. A lot of stations are also limiting what you can get to 10 gallons. I can understand that supply is low right now, but this is <17> ridiculous. Oil was trading for about $100 a barrel yesterday and at that price last year we could buy gas below $3 a gallon.

I just pray that once the hurricane passes through and the refineries start producing again that prices will go back down quickly. But I think I'm kidding myself to think that.

What's more sad, they are trading for FUTURES, typically three months out. But they stick it up our asses and break it off early and often, and nobody can or will stop them.

is part of the Golden Triangle Cartel. Always the first area in the state to raise prices and always the last to drop them.

We'd get everything left under the heat lamp for a quarter back in the day...

yesterday....he said the suppliers jacked their prices up 50 cents a gallon overnight....he told them to just bring all of his trucks back to town because he would not pay that for the gas (and he owns a substantial # of stations here).

The ensuing freakout has caused prices to go up here...and people are lined up 4-5 deep all over town. It jumped to 3.99 in Saltillo yesterday....

The refineries are very resistant to 100 mph winds.

Because of what they do, the pipes, refractors and tanks are sressed to take winds upwards to 175 mph. They will have flooding and that's the main worry, but most refineries have built in dranage to handle their cooling water needs, and drain quickly. Their biggest problem is asking operators to stay with the equipment through the storm.

If they stay free of the 20foot storm surge, they will remain in pretty good shape, as soon as their people can come back to their houses, assuming their houses are still there.

Our prayers go out to all of them.I am happy it is not coming in like Katrina with +100 MPH winds as far North as Meridian.

- They had some buffer stock after Gustav, that is gone now.
- Gustav was farther east and not such a hazard to Houston, The farther west you go from NO, the more refineries you see.
- They shut down the drilling platforms in teh gulf for Gustov, pulled the drill pipe out of the hole and most likely still have not put th epipe back into the ground. If that is true, the platforms have been down for alomst three weeks now and will be down at least another week and a half to two weeks.
- They know they can kick us at the pump, so they do.

i've been hearing and reading that stations are running out of gas. has there been a shortage?

it scares the **** out of me that this whole country is so dependent on gas and the cars that use it. myself included.

a long term gas shortage would cripple the US. I have no idea how to fix the problem but it's a big one.

Mac's on Hwy 80 in Brandon was at 5.35

There's like ten other stations within a few miles that are all below 3.60.

Hmmmmm....

you need to get all your facts together before you use the word gouging, gas all over Starkville will be almost $5 by Saturday morning. The central hub in Meridian is out and that is where all the gas for north MS comes from. Gas stations just barely break even on gas after the cc fees they pay so wouldn't you hedge your bet early or would you just take a loss?

the gas that's in the ground is already paid for and that's what they are selling. you have replacement cost on the next shipment but you are making more than a few cents a gallon
when you sell the gas that you already bought at the next price you are paying to the distributor

Bingo. This is no coincidence.

Fortunately, it will finally end in January.

Yeah in January it will all be fine. Do you really think gas prices will go back down because of either one of these douchebags that gets elected? You might as well get used to $3.00 and above because it will never be below that again. What incentive is there to lower the price?

There won't be an oilman in the White House for starters. In other words, we should have somebody who will not sit around doing nothing while the average American gets their *** handed to them.

I can see the price getting close to $80 by mid-Feb with a mild winter.

Had to inject your obnoxious political views into this thread and get it locked. You've been given liberty to post obnoxious political symbols in your sigs so take advantage of that.
