My son and a couple of his friends are headed to Starkville in the fall. What are the best apartments/condos to lease around town, and is it a good idea to re t around cotton district or other certain area? Thanks..

Cotton district is fine. But pricey. But if you want something, you to do it tomorrow. Anywhere. Best stuff goes fast typically

My son lived on University for a year, could see the Bin from the front porch. He liked it at first, but on weekends it was a revolving door and that got old. He moved to Glenn hollow which was still close enough to walk, but far enough to keep the riff raff at bay

You might consider buying something. Then rent the friends their rooms & hopefully it will appreciate by the time they graduate.

My favorite place to live was on Gillespie St. just east of Montgomery. Was cheap, close to everything, walking/biking distance to campus especially on football weekends.

I would stay away from The Cotton District rental agency. My son rented from them and it was initially in a disgusting condition from the previous renters and after he left they charged us for several hundred dollars in bogus charges.

Buy your own place and sell it later after it appreciates. The rental companies abuse the students.

I agree with this. My daughter started bugging me over Christmas break to start the process of helping her and her roommates find an apartment. I thought that was way too early to start looking for the fall, but I started calling around in January because she kept badgering me and apparently the Jan-Feb timeframe is when a lot of the rental agencies or landlords have renewal deadlines for their existing tenets for the fall.

I talked to multiple agents initially and one thing they did all say was that there are more than enough rental units for students. I was initially concerned about that given the dorms are bursting at the seams.

I have one who lives by Patriot Park, & one on the opposite side on a lake in a rv.

The rv is where I stay when I go up & he loves it out there.

If your kid would consider a rv it's less expensive than rent.

my son lives in the Vista right now. He's moving out (not sure why but he's a knucklehead who knows everything) for his senior year. I was impressed with the Vista the several visits I made. You can't beat the location.

I bought a house in 2013 for my daughter, if you can swing it, I believe this is the way to go. Conveniently we never sold it and use it for gamedays now.

I have a condo down there that my son lives in while in school and we still use on weekends. It's higher than giraffe *** but it's better than shoveling a grand a month down the toilet for apartment rent.
