Very reminiscent of games UK played in the 90's when Pitino was here. A&M has decent big guys, almost nothing at guard. They have no one who can beat his guy off the bounce, their sets looked slow as molasses, and it seemed like every pass they made was a potential TO. There aren't as many teams like that now compared to the 90's, as the 3 point shot has increased in importance, but those were exactly the type of teams that Pitino's UK teams used to feast on. Size means nothing if you can't hold onto the ball long enough to get it inside.
Cal is very much showing this year just how much flexibility he has as a coach. He's traditionally coached a moderate-paced team, and traditionally been less concerned about forcing TO's than other aspects of defense. 11-12 forced an average of 11.7 per game, 14-15 an average of 13.6. That number this year is now up to 17.6, the highest average for a UK team since 96-97.
Have to admit I questioned whether Cal would ever really go this far towards pressure D and a transition offense, but here we are averaging 94 ppg and forcing TO's at the highest rate in 20 years.

If you don't have very good guards who can handle the ball well and shoot a high percentage from 3, you probably won't beat us. If not, you better have a very good defense that can turn it into an ugly game and pray we have a historically bad shooting game.
