Used to A/B voted to get rid of it.Why doesn't Class A or Class B have a consolation round? All of the other classes do.
Was voted to eliminate those. Why doesn't Class A or Class B have a consolation round? All of the other classes do.
They didn’t have interest in playing an extra game after losing in the semi finals. I went to a class A third place game once. Neither coach seemed to care about the game and the players treated it like the NBA all star game. I did get to see a lot of dunks though.Any explanation as to why?
I can see that. They didn’t have interest in playing an extra game after losing in the semi finals. I went to a class A third place game once. Neither coach seemed to care about the game and the players treated it like the NBA all star game. I did get to see a lot of dunks though.
The consolation games I attended were very competitive but that’s not saying that all of them are.I can see that.
I've never been to any consolation game. Do the other classes act/play like they want to be there?
The C-1 and C-2 consolation games that I have attended have all been very competitive. Western Nebraska schools tend to have larger crowds than the eastern schools do for those games.I can see that.

South Dakota plays out all the way to 7th placeIf you’re traveling a long ways, it’s nice for the team to get two games. If they win the first. Wyoming and Colorado do double elimination.
South Dakota plays out all the way to 7th place
Exactly. This game should be removed from all classes. Simply an NSAA money grab.why have any of them, to me who wants to play another game after losing to go to the championship game
I've been to 3 and my kids absolutely despised playing in them.I can see that.

You guys, the NSAA doesn't decide to play the 3rd place games. The schools do. It's not a money grab, it's what the majority of schools have voted that they want. I hate the 3rd place game! If C1-D2 are tired of the 3rd place game, each could write a proposal and vote the games out and it'd go away.I'm on the fence about the consolation games. On one hand I could see with a young team where you might return the majority of your players and another game at state gives them the experience of playing in a 3rd game and on the other they usually aren't too competitive and seem pointless. 100% agree that it's a money grab for the NSAA and if I HAD to vote would vote no. Biasedly, I was happy for example that a team like Red Cloud got another game this year to give all those young players that 3rd game to gain experience on how to handle that situation.
This isn't rocket science...there are far fewer people at the class D games. That means the arena empties out much faster, and the security and planning people don't have to be "jerks" for asking people to leave. While it wasn't terrible, the turn around time for the PBA staff for the Husker game yesterday was quick to make the needed changes. My problem with state basketball is why they have class d1 or d2 for the last night game, where they could have class b or a that are located closer to Lincoln
NSAA doesn’t decide this . The member schools vote.Exactly. This game should be removed from all classes. Simply an NSAA money grab.
Depends on the school if a school gets upset in the semis that was a championship favorite they might go through the motions. But take Ft Calhoun boys a few years ago. They had not been to state in 90 yrs. They upset a team in the first round. They got beat is the semifinals but won the consolation game got medals and those kids put a state basketball trophy in the schools trophy case for the first time in school history. You don’t that that consolation game meant anything?I've been to 3 and my kids absolutely despised playing in them.

Not to be that guy, but they indeed lost that consolation game to Kearney Catholic. Fort Calhoun upset Wahoo, Cale Jacobsen and A/G won it that year.Depends on the school if a school gets upset in the semis that was a championship favorite they might go through the motions. Not sure how other schools feel. All I can tell you is that my kids played in 3 of those games and hated every second about it starting with the second the clock expired in the semi-final game where they lost. And from personal experience, we lost in the semi-final game my senior year before they had the 3rd place game and I can pretty much assure you that my entire team would have preferred to forfeit and not play that game. I also have never talked to a coach who likes the third place game. But if the schools want it, then by all means keep having it.Depends on the school if a school gets upset in the semis that was a championship favorite they might go through the motions.
