If rankings were about who was actually the best- Notre Dame would never get ranked in football anymore

When the basketball team was ranked- you damn sure didnt mention any Boyd's ISR

And Boyd does a much better job of measuring how good teams are than any of the polls do. If the polls were worth a **** how come there's always so much difference between them? I don't remember saying much of anything when the basketball team was ranked, but I damn sure didn't mention Boyd's ISR since he doesn't have one for basketball.

Quick, scour the web... find a ranking somewhere that says we aren't any good! Warren Nolan's Nolan Power Index has us at 91. We don't deserve to make a regional! Fire Cohenz!!

College baseball polls are what most recruits look at- not RPI. Sometimes perception is reality. In that case, I would much rather have the "false prestige" in terms of the future.

The RPI sites basically just telling people what they think our resume' says.

Two totally different things.

And don't act like Boyd isn't ever wrong. Last year he had LSU as a lock and they missed the regionals completely. He's basically baseball's version of Andy Katz. And even he would be the first to tell you that he doesn't include things like postseason tournaments and etc.

Then we need to educate recruits or stop recruiting idiots.

Reality is reality. Perception is crap unless you believe MSU is eternally bound by the perception of the nation outside of it.

Leave False prestige for those shallow minded bitches who still live 5 decades ago.

when we were recruiting our current "idiots".

Three straight losing seasons. 23-26 win seasons with 6-9 SEC wins.

Rebuilding team.

I wasn't talking about the perception of our fans. I was talking about the perception of recruits- which is about as current as you can get.

NONE of the kids on the current team committed to that for the reason you stated. Our kids committed to a school or a coach or the REAL results that happened on the field last year.

if the PERCEPTION is that our program is good when it isnt (meaning a rating that kids think is true but isnt) then those kids are idiots. Educate them or pray they are smart enough to commit to Cohen or MSU as a school. 17 a perception. It's for cheap ****** salesmen who have poor products. </p> ***edited to add: The perception of MSU is only 2 things: the glory days of 1978 to the end of Polk I or a small school that has been passed by, if you are talking about recruits that arent familiar with who we are.

and the rankings you referred to vs the past losing seasons you also referred to wouldnt change one kids mind unless they were an idiot.

I would have never guessed.

And I didn't realize that Boyd predicted who would make the NCAA tournament. The only thing I've ever seen is the won-loss record a team would need to get to top-8, top-16, top-32 and top-45 in RPI. He had LSU ranked #22 last year. Who knows how they would have done if they'd made a regional.

Do recruits totally base their decisions solely on baseball polls? No. Is it something that they look at? Yes. Do they look at it Boyd's site? Maybe, but definately not as much as they look at the polls.

Why do they look at polls? Maybe because they want to play for a good program?

If you didn't realize that Boyd was predicting who would make the regionals based on data, then you don't know how to use the site or interpret the data and the first place.

I think Boyd does some good work, but you have to take it for what it's worth. Much like a baseball poll. But then again, I don't believe Appalachain State is better than us in baseball, but if you go by Boyd's numbers, that's exactly what he's saying. In fact, the committee was ripped for not including LSU last year, but it turned out their RPI was much, much lower than what he had based on his math.

And I think there is a very good chance that he is off on us because I think the committee is going to take our injuries into account. But we'll see. You never know what they are going to do.

Actually, a couple of them committed before we even went to a SR last year.

Some want immediate playing time, some want to play for a certain coach, some want to go to Omaha and play for a strong program.

I don't think it's idiotic to want to play for a good baseball program that is considered in the top 25 in the country out of about 300 programs.

How else do you determine that? Go ask Boyd to punch in some numbers which are basically just as "bogus" as these polls?
