Not a question anymore, but it’s interesting what this guy thinks of the M over S. The lateral move comment made me chuckle. UVA is a great program but not a lateral move?

“The idea that Mississippi State is somehow better positioned to give O’Connor more to work with money-wise is bunk.

According to the Sportico.com college finances database, State only spent $500,000 more on baseball last year than UVA did, and overall, UVA Athletics outspent Mississippi State by $11 million.

Yes, Mississippi State is an SEC school; but it’s dead last in the SEC in athletics-related spending.

O’Connor-to-Mississippi State wouldn’t even be a lateral move for him.”

Btw STOP reading Chris G. That dude is a UVA alumni click bait. Same guy who also said NO WAY BOC is leaving for State! Guy even pulled out academic rankings for an article. If you look at his professional profile picture, it’s him, zoomed in, with an ESPN Microphone that he probably bought off Amazon.

Let him be butt hurt. VA baseball was nothing before BOC and we finally had an AD with the ability to close a deal and keep his decision close to the vest until it was time too. Yeah a much more storied program just took your prized coach. You're right to be hurt about it but to think MSstate baseball is not a big deal is to think like lit.... he thought like shi......

You should see Yancy melting down over on the OM Spirit. It's a sight to behold. Even some of their red and blue glasses folks are trying to reason with him and he'll have none of it. He's 72Truthfinder over there

Basically every bit of Virginia baseball success has been generated by Brian O'Connor.

They've been to 7 CWS and he took them to 7 CWS.

They've been in the NCAA tournament 21 times. He took them in 18 of his 22 seasons.

They are the product of a single great coach.

Mississippi State has been to 12 CWS in each of the last 6 decades under 6 different head coaches. We are a program, who now also happens to have Virginia's great former HC.

And us (imo) not giving the Grishams (John) the time of day when his boy would’ve given a body part for a walk on scholly…..

John then diverted $$ to UVA
(Correct me if that’s wrong).

I don't know the story other than snippets I've read here over the years.

Fact is, Ty Grisham wasn't good enough to play at State (he had 8 career ABs at Virginia) and his rich dad shouldn't have expected the school to just put him on the team because his dad is rich and famous. Pure ego.

Grisham was obviously a State fan long ago, but I don't think we've been his main allegiance in a very long time.

John Grisham had this all figured out. By funding UVA in to a power he knew one day O'Connor would bring it all back to Starkville.**

The school should’ve put him on the team to shag fly balls in practice and carry food to the locker room post game. This was back at a time when there was basically no limit on the number of players who could be on the team. We had several people on the team back then who were basically equipment managers. A competent AD finds a spot for that kid and his dad’s money on the team.

Agree to disagree.
