In 9 of the last 11 innings State played a very good Southern Miss baseball team.
If he makes me eat these words, I’ll gladly own it, but retaining Gautreau was a big mistake
Thankfully things will soften up when we get to SEC play
I think they will. You'll have much better weather and hopefully you'll be in somewhat of a groove at that point. If the bats are still ice cold by then, we've got a problem for sure.
GoTro not the issue, or not the main issue. Issue is crootin, and how much of that lies on him, is the real question.
Lemonis is the head coach so it starts with him.
We made a lot of the same comments about our historically bad pitching staff until we brought in a pitching coach last year that would actually coach these kids
Don’t get me wrong… I’ve got no problem with the head of the snake approach as I’ve been saying for two years that Lemonis can take a hike. If our AD won’t fire him, though, we need a hitting coach
It's the top of the 6th right now and we've only got one hit so far. Can stadiums hit and can NIL score runs? If so, we need a ROI posthaste.

In the last 7 innings we are 2-23 w/ ZERO runs and playing a very average MO St team and have 8 strikeouts w/ 2 hits......

Out of 4 hits on Tuesday, Lukas Buckner had 2 of the hits. Today Buckner has the only two hits for State. Freshmen that Gautreau hasn't 17ed up yet. His dad is also a high school. So he may be more able to self correct before he starts struggling so our wonderful hitting coach will work him.

Yep, 4 of our 6 hits in the last 16 innings have come from true freshman Buckner.
I talked to Chris before the game. I told him my opinion on fixing Hunter. He hit another very long foul ball. Chris said he is stubborn.
God bless his heart, I am glad Hunter is a dog, but I would agree that ‘stubborn’ is true of him. Why else would he choose to hit into a shift for all these years rather than poke a single down the line to get a hit when his team needs base runners. If you play for a coach like Schlossneagle, you are required to practice beating the shift. I think that hard-headedness is one of the reasons he wasn’t drafted.
Yeah, baseball ain’t exactly a sport you can turn chicken **** into chicken salad in regards to hitting. There are certain things that can be done to help and I believe our hitting coach does generally get the best out of our hitters. But no amount of coaching can make these guys hit a breaking ball if they just can’t hit it.

Surprisingly, from what I've read here, I was smart enough to listen to the game today while showing houses! I found out by listening to Jason Crowder and Ron Polk, that our guys found their bull pen to their liking and State won big 3-1! dawgs win again!
Recruiting is pretty damn good. Enough talent is coming in that should be hitting the ball better. Parker doing his job. GoTtro stale…kinda sucks
Baseball is a game of streaks. Sometimes you have rough patches. Sometimes you’re in high cotton.

Just take a look at some of the SEC teams we will play, and compare them to us. Hell Mo State even looked bigger and more athletic throughout the lineup at least. Thank goodness for our pitching.
Recruiting hasn't been great. Not bad but not great, and that describes our baseball program overall as well.
