Marcello is a 17 loser. He has as much business being an AP voter as C34 has

doing a penis implant on Rick Stansbury using a butter knife,

Hey don't go using logic and applying it to polls. Nebraska was ranked in the preseason, that means they shouldn't lose that much ranking after getting beat.**

Why the media has any power in college football is beyond me. I know some of them are good and really enjoy sports and know more than most others about football, but a huge number of them are ignorant sheep that follow the leader when someone says a team looked good. Media voting in the polls feels like a bunch of deaf people deciding the winner of a singing competition.

I honestly tried to give him every chance, but he's just a bad beat writer (or any writer). Other than Rusty Hampton, I've never thought that any of our beat writers had any kind of anti-MSU agenda, but Marcello is close. So is Brad Locke.

I agree......

Not sure if it's just this day and age of media or not though. Perhaps it's going on all around the country. But Marcello and Locke are not pro-MSU by any means.

they don't have to be pro-MSU

they just need to be objective, but they always seem to feel like they're writing editorials. you should just stop reading it. i did and my life improved.

As much flack as Kyle Veazy got on this board, he is a very good writer as is Sekou Smith...both objective.

A good beat writer should be very slightly pro for the team he is covering. His job is to write stories for their fanbase. He shouldn't be a cheerleader for that team, and as much as most people loved him, I think Sekou Smith crossed that line. Veazey nailed it.

I think the problem with preseason AP poll is the fact the voters don't really know where to start. Call it too lazy to or call it they don't have the time to research the teams so they take the fast way out and consistantly vote for the same schools every year. I can see them saying, "Screw this, I will just vote peaseason like I did last year. Forget they may not be as good. We will work it out later."
